Today, the Bank of Canada held its key lending rate again.

And while that might sound like “nothing changed,” there’s still a lot worth paying attention to.

For anyone with a variable-rate mortgage, adjustable-rate mortgage, or line of credit, this means your rate is not changing today.

Fixed rates are different. They are not directly affected by today’s announcement, but they can still move based on what’s happening in the bond market, the economy, and around the world.

🏡 If you’re thinking about buying, make sure your pre-approval is current and your rate hold is in place.

🔄 If you’re renewing this year, please don’t just sign your lender’s first offer without checking your options.

💬 And if your monthly payments are starting to feel heavier than you’d like, it may be worth looking at ways to improve cash flow before things feel too tight.

Today’s announcement may not have changed the policy rate.

But it is a good reminder to make sure your mortgage still fits your life, your goals, and your budget.

No pressure. Just a conversation and a plan that makes sense for where you are right now.

She didn’t want to leave her home.

At 95, what mattered most wasn’t “downsizing” or maximizing equity. It was staying in the place that felt safe, familiar, and full of memories.

Most people don’t realize there may be options available to help make that possible.

Sometimes the most important part of my job is simply helping people see a path forward again. ❤️

Today, the Bank of Canada held rates again.

And while that might not feel like big news… it actually says a lot about where things are right now.

There’s a bit of a balancing act happening behind the scenes.

On one hand, inflation hasn’t fully settled.
On the other, the economy is starting to slow.

And now, rising oil prices and global uncertainty are adding even more pressure to both sides.

So for now, the Bank is choosing to wait — not because everything is fine, but because the next move really matters.

If you’re thinking about buying, planning a renewal, or just feeling the weight of your payments right now… this is where a simple conversation can make a big difference.

No pressure, just a plan that fits your life.

If you’d like to walk through your options, I’m always here. 🤍

These conversations often lead to one big question:

How do we make it possible for them to stay at home comfortably and safely for as long as possible?

For many families, the answer isn’t selling right away.
It’s finding ways to use what they already have.

A reverse mortgage is one option that allows homeowners 55+ to access the equity in their home without having to sell or take on monthly mortgage payments.

That money can be used for things like:
• Home renovations (walk-in showers, stair lifts, accessibility upgrades)
• In-home care or support services
• Covering day-to-day expenses to ease financial pressure

There are no monthly payments, and the funds can be taken as a lump sum or as needed. When you decide to sell, the loan is repaid, and you keep the remaining equity.

It’s not the right fit for everyone.
But for some families, it can be the difference between having to move and being able to stay.

If you’re starting to explore what this could look like for your parents, I’m here as a resource to walk through what’s possible.

You don’t always say it out loud…
but you notice it.

Dad taking the stairs a little slower. 👨‍🦯
Mom hesitating in the bathroom.👩‍🦯

And suddenly, home doesn’t feel as safe as it used to. 😞

A lot of families want to help their parents stay in the home they love…❤️
but the cost of making it safe can feel overwhelming.

⬇️ Things like:
• Stair lifts
• Bathroom renovations
• Walk-in tubs or showers
• In-home care support

They add up quickly.

🔔 This is where a reverse mortgage can be part of the conversation.

📌 It can allow homeowners 55+ to access the equity in their home to fund the changes that make aging in place possible, without selling or taking on monthly payments.

🚫 It’s not about debt.
❤️ It’s about dignity, safety, and staying where home is.

If this is something your family wants to look at, I’m here to walk through the options.

There’s something special about a home that holds generations of memories.

Your parents want to stay at home but as time goes on, the question becomes:

Can they stay safely and comfortably?

For many homeowners 55+, a reverse mortgage can be one way to make that possible.

It gives access to home equity to fund things like:
• Renovations and accessibility upgrades
• In-home care
• Ongoing expenses

without having to sell or take on monthly mortgage payments.

It’s not the right fit for everyone. But for some families, it’s what allows the next chapter to happen in the same place the story began.

If this is something you’ve been thinking about, for yourself or your parents, I’m always here to chat.
