A win that paid me $0 — and I’m completely okay with that.

A friend of mine recently had his mortgage coming up for renewal. He was with one of the major banks and had been paying 6.3% on a fixed mortgage.

We sat down, went over his situation, and looked at the different options. After reviewing everything, we realized that the best strategy for him was actually to stay with his current lender ,but negotiate the rate.

He followed the advice, negotiated with the lender, and finally secured 3.65% on a 5-year variable rate.

The result? About $600 less in monthly payments!

That’s a pretty great win. 🎉

And the funny part? I earned $0 from this.

But honestly, I don’t mind at all. As a mortgage broker, my job isn’t always about making a deal. Sometimes it’s simply about helping someone make the decision that is genuinely best for them even if that means I don’t earn anything from it.

Money will come. The satisfaction of helping someone save $600 every month? That’s already a win.
