Key Changes for 2026 in Canada:

Mandatory Direct Deposit: Beginning January 5, 2026, the CRA is mandating direct deposit for all government payments, benefits, and tax refunds. Paper cheques will no longer be issued to millions of Canadians.

Capital Gains: Changes to the capital gains inclusion rate (increasing from one-half to two-thirds) will be effective for dispositions occurring on or after January 1, 2026

Please make sure you are set up for direct deposit with the CRA for this tax season 🙂
