You can absolutely reuse old Christmas cards as gift tags! 🎁

It’s a simple, money-saving trick and a great way to cut down on waste. Many cards have beautiful artwork (like the ones in this photo), so they make perfect, unique tags.

It’s an easy way to repurpose what you already have, save a bit of money, and add a personal touch to your gifts!

September’s here, which means back to packing lunches, prepping dinners, and tightening up the budget until Christmas. 🥪🍲💸

For the next few months, we’re focusing on using up what’s already in the freezer, cupboards, and fridge before buying more.

And if we do eat out, it’s all about coupons, discount days, and redeeming those points! 🙌

✨ It's that time again where I make my financial goals.

Making new goals every year has helped me to stay on track with my finances. It's a great "Restart"!

↪️ Less take out & more home made meals over the weekends. [2024 our family did very well at this but I want to step it up & focus on less spending on the weekends]

↪️ Continue to keep my spending to a minimum. Less online purchases & less coffee stops. Those smaller purchases can add up over the year.

↪️ Find another way to make extra money monthly. Having a couple side hustles can help with giving you that extra money to put into savings, pay off debt quicker or help invest more.

↪️ Find new recipes to add to my weekly rotation of meals. Maybe this will help me to enjoy cooking more this coming year. Go back to my weekly food chart!

↪️ Less stops at the grocery store - 3 weeks [Push my food to last a bit long & use up what you already have]

Canadian Tire has a huge 60th Birthday SALE going on till Thursday! Lots of brand names carpet cleaners to choose from. We went with this one because the reviews looked good, 2 year warranty & the best savings (50% off).

Also, did you know that you can transfer your Petro Points into Triangle Rewards (Canadian Tire money). My husband had 66,000 Petro Points that turned into $66.00 Canadian Tire FREE money!

This item only cost us $73.99 + tax
Full price the item is $279.99

We have always wanted a carpet cleaner because of having a family of 6 & two animals in our home. We do have carpet throughout our home and hiring someone to clean our carpets just doesn't make sense to us financially.

🏋️‍♀️ Gym memberships are expensive!

Financially right now in my life with being home with my youngest I don't have that extra cash to go towards a gym membership & time 😜

YouTube is a HUGE resource to find any type of work out & level your in. I seriously started with a 5lb kettlebell. I found someone on YouTube that I connected with and went with it. I just wanted movement for 10 minutes to start - making an effort to better myself!

Days of consistency turned into months. I upped my time and finally purchased more used weights to add to my FREE work outs at home.

*I know some people can't feel motivated at home and like to get out of the house but for me I pushed myself to enjoy it at home when my son was napping or entertaining himself. It made sense for me to use that time wisely and enjoy my alone time going for walks in the evenings.

⁉️ Do you check your receipts after you check out?

This your reminder:

TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK OVER YOUR RECEIPTS

My husband and I had a few hours without children and of course what do we do - we head to Walmart!

After we checked out my husband asked me to "check the receipt" and make sure it's all right. Of course in my mind it's all correct.....

BUT

WE DIDN'T receive the SALE price on a few items we purchased.

$109.97 SALE price $98.97

$14.97 SALE price $13.97

$21.00 savings

I instantly went back in and informed them at customer service that we hadn't received the SALE price for these two items.

Walmart ended up taking additional
🙌 $10 off EACH ITEM.

Refund was $36.73 back on my credit card.
Plus I used my Walmart Free money at check out of $70 off my bill.

My savings for this Walmart haul was a total of:

$106.73

⭐it is worth the time to check your receipts - even on the big item purchases because things happen and most times we only purchase certain items because it's on SALE to begin with!

🍓 Fruit doesn't last long in this house ....

I'm struggling lately with how much food has cost our family of 6! I have been using alot of what we have, eatting up left overs and staying within my budget BUT why does it always feel like "I have no food" in my house.

My grocery costs has doubled this summer! With inflation and less product - how is this even fair?

I seriously hate to see what each of my grocery carts cost me when I'm checking out. I seriously stay away from grocery stores even more this summer I've noticed. I've been pushing it to 3.5 weeks heading in there unless it's the essentials. (Those essentials are getting less and less essential)

September is almost here and school is just around the corner. It's time for this mama to step my game up even more and start to see what else I can do to help keep this budget down.

Do you use the last drop? 🥄
Do you turn a container upside down and wait for it all to drain out?

There has been many many times where I have always USED things up to the very LAST DROP! I scrape the container out, rinse it and put it in the sauce pan, and even turn it upside down in the fridge for the next time we use it.

Salad dressings, ketchup, peanut butter, jam, syrup, spaghetti sauce, and even margarine - many items in our home.

I've have proven to my children that there is still LOTS left by doing these little things. Sometimes they are amazed how much more we got out of it...

🍕 Less take-out meals ✅

Our family loves having pizza on the weekends! For 2024, our focus was to make more "take-out" meals at home. We started with the pizza nights.

Since we have been making these at home I've noticed I have not only saved money but I've saved gas and time. *We are not a fan of our small town pizza restaurants* My family LOVES when it's pizza night - they love making their own pizza themselves and getting involved.

We average one take-out meal a week but this is starting to change to every other week.

Our family felt that what we pay for take-out seems to be alot more money and the quality isn't there. Home made pizza for the win at our house on the weekends!
