A little behind on my camera roll, but here’s where the coop build stands! 🔨 Got the Tyvek wrapped, the wire run built, and a roosting ladder set up inside. The chickens must be fans because they already delivered our very first egg before the project is even totally wrapped up! 🥚🙌

Still a few small details left to finish off when time permits, but Jenn and I are stoked with the progress. What do you think? 👇

Remember a post I made a few months back when egg prices hit $8 a dozen and I joked about letting Jenn get the chickens she’s wanted for years?

Well, fast-forward to this summer, and that "simple idea" officially turned into me building a full-blown structure in the backyard. 🐔 I’ve been taking full advantage of the non-rainy Nova Scotia days to get out in the yard, frame walls, cut rafters, and build bucket feeders out in the garage.

Safe to say the inspection committee (the chickens themselves) kept a VERY close eye on my progress the entire time. Click through to see how the framing came together! 🛠️

It's always a special time when my son Cam makes his way down to Nova Scotia for a visit! Having the whole gang together for a bit has been great, and it's been a highlight for me getting to see Emerson, Grayson and Isabella make memories with their brother. ☺️

I always tell my team to think outside the box when looking for solutions for our clients, but I think they took "unconventional property types" a bit too literally this time. 🤦‍♂️

I know the East Coast real estate market has had its fair share of wild times, but my team team even thinking about trying to pre-approve the Halifax Wave for a retirement property in Inverness takes the cake. 🌊

Back with Part 2 of our annual Falls Lake cottage vacation! Of course, we continued to spend most of the time in the water, but we did squeeze in a tie-dyeing session and walked away with some pretty colourful summer shirts. 👕🌀

We also broke out the co****le boards. If you’ve ever played backyard games with family, you know they start out as "just a fun little game" and quickly turn into an incredibly competitive tournament for household bragging rights. 😂🎯

Four years of coming out here, and the memories just keep getting better. Grateful for a few days to reset so we can jump right back into helping our clients lock in their own dream homes and summer spaces!

Hope everyone is having an amazing summer! ☀️🌾

A catch we won’t soon forget! 🎣 Here’s another moment from our vacation to Falls Lake cottages. I assure you that this memory will be talked about a lot in our household for years to come.

We've been going to Falls Lake Cottages for the last four years now, and it has quickly become the summer tradition I look forward to the most. We head up with some of our closest friends, which means great cottage company from sunup to sundown for the entire week.

We packed in a ton of classic lake life this past week —lots of beach time, hanging out in the inner tubes, trying our hand at fishing, and a whole lot of canoeing (which stayed un-pictured because we left the phones behind).

We actually got a surprise visit from a whole crew of local ducks who marched right up onto the sand to negotiate a little afternoon snack from us! 🦆

Here is the first half of our camera roll from the week. Stay tuned for the next batch of adventures. 🏖

The ladies had plans of their own last weekend, so the boys and I decided to go play in the mud! I haven't had the chance to really explore the Lucasville trails with the four-wheeler since we moved, but we finally got out there. We followed some paths, investigated the rivers, found a frog, and capped it all off with some ice cream. 🍦🐸

Must say... it was a pretty great afternoon.

Isabella is in her sports announcer era. 🎙️🏁 Throwing it back to our last visit to Scotia Speedworld when the awesome team at Tim's Corner Motorsports did something incredibly brave: they handed Isabella the microphone.

One minute you've got a professional sports journalist, and the next minute... well, you might have an unrelated story about what happened at recess last week. 😂 Huge thanks to Tim's Corner for being such a good sport and giving her an experience she hasn't stopped talking about.

We are heading back to the track today for Kiddie Races! We aren't entirely sure if the sound crew is going to welcome us back or lock the commentary booth doors when they see us coming, but we're willing to find out. 🚗💨

If you told me years ago I’d be at home, in my housecoat, gently wiping a baby chick's butt to clean it, I would have told you that you were crazy. But here we are. 🤣 The last two months have been a wild, hilarious, and surprisingly emotional ride behind the scenes while I've been working on mortgages for my clients.

So long story short, my wife, Jenn, had been dropping hints about wanting backyard chickens for a while. I was on the fence until a few months ago when we were at the grocery store, and I saw a dozen eggs for $7.99. $7.99! I looked at Jenn and said, yep, we're getting chickens. Next thing you know, Mother's Day rolls around, and Jenn is getting a chicken coop and I was building it.

On a real note, it hasn't all been easy. As anyone who raises animals knows, it's a fragile process. We did lose a few along the way. I never thought I’d get so attached to these little things, and it was genuinely heartbreaking for the family after trying so hard to care for them. But we're keeping at it, learning as we go, and they are growing like crazy.

But yeah, if you need me in the next little bit, I'll be answering your mortgage questions while moonlighting as a Lower Sackville poultry supervisor. 🐓💼
