The last 12 months has been entirely based upon caring for my parents needs as we nearly lost my Mother last year. As my Father’s primary caregiver (he has altzheimers) my Mother neglected her own needs and fell ill, a story common among many at this age. I am grateful they are both still with us. So many mourn the loss of their loved ones today while others celebrate.

What I have come to learn is our belongings are merely a footnote to the memories we carry of times spent together.

Over the past few weeks I have been leaning out my house and what remains of theirs. They are the root of the life experiences but the people are what make the memories.

Today I chose to reorganize my kitchen. I am a passionate whole food cook, something I have neglected for too long as work and my parents needs have kept me busy. This makes me so happy!

Maybe it’s age, and the wisdom that comes with it, but today is a wonderful Mother’s Day for me. A visit with a client turned friend (my other Mother I call her) a nice brunch with my parents yesterday, time spent with my daughters and today of all days, I gained a son. Sam is moving in for a few months and we are happy to have him here.

What ever you are up to today, be it celebrating or remembering, may your Mother’s Day be a reminder of the miracle of creation.
