Love the Snatch

Love the Snatch Love the Snatch sells branded apparel with proceeds going to fund research and raise awareness for cervical cancer.

In 2009, Love the Snatch (c) co-founder, Ashlee, found herself undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for cervical Cancer. In 2013 her cousin, Jen, was diagnosed with the same disease. Faced with this unlikely shared experience, the cousins felt compelled to promote awareness and research for cervical cancer, and Love the Snatch was born. With Jen's background in CrossFit and Weightlifting, our log

o features Jen's silhouette, performing an olympic lift called the "snatch", over the teal ribbon representing cervical and ovarian cancers. Our charities of choice include ones funding research and awareness not only for the treatment of cervical cancers, but also for their prevention and early detection. Proceeds from apparel sales will be donated to various charities including the ones below:

Jen’s charity of choice:

In August 2013, I was diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the Cervix (SCCC). It is aggressive and rare; so rare that it gets no funding, and when it does, it’s difficult to find participants. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer center has started a research fund, and is creating an online global database of SCCC patients and their treatments and outcomes to improve the treatment of all future SCCC patients. Ashlee’s Charity of choice:

In February 2009, I was diagnosed with the most common type of Cervical Cancer: Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC). I had a 5.3 X 4.4 cm tumor (roughly 45% bigger than the cervix itself!), with suspiciously large lymph nodes nearby and possible metastasis to the upper vagina. I credit my first post-treatment CT Scan results (Excellent² - they actually used the word excellent twice!) to the combined efforts of conventional treatments and naturopathic treatments; naturopathic treatments are not covered by OHIP and are minimally covered by health insurance. The Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre (OICC) is the first integrative cancer care and research centre of its kind in Eastern Canada: through its clinical, research and educational goals, it strives to assess and reduce the possible causes of cancer while exploring innovative integrative treatment approaches.

It has been some time since we have been able to get to any events to talk about Jen, spread the word and raise money for SCCC, and show our support by wearing LTS gear. These last couple years have been a blur and hopefully things are finally starting to get better and will stay that way. With that said, we were going through our inventory and decided that we have a bunch of gear that we need to clear out. This gear includes LTS t-shirts, tank tops, 3/4 sleeve tees, hoodies, and toques. We also noticed that we still have boxes of old event shirts that Jennifer Nichol, Scott Thornton, and the UG Series crew so graciously donated to us. When we saw the amount of stuff we have, we decided we need to clear it out.

This clear out is going to be a simple buy one get one deal. What will you get you ask? Well, when you buy any LTS item we will throw in a random UG shirt of the same gender and size (if we have it). You will also get free shipping to anywhere in Canada and maybe something else if we have anything to give.

Unfortunately, we had to close our webstore down as it was costing more than we were bringing in. This will not stop us from having this sale, though. If you are interested in any items, please send us a message through messenger and we will gladly share our inventory with you and work out payment if you decide to buy something.

In loving memory of Jennifer Ann Margaret Young.

Inventory Clearout:

We have hundreds of old UG Series competition shirts left and we are looking to clear them out. Our original asking price was $5(cdn) per shirt but we are reducing that to $2(cdn) to help move them. Inventory is all over the place so send us a message with sizing (mens or womens) and we will see what we have for you. If we have more than one style in your size we will randomly select one. Shipping will be extra and calculated at time of purchase. All purchases will be completed through PayPal.

Good luck to everyone competing at this year's UG Series Games.

Unfortunately we were not able to make it this time, but we want to thank UG Series for their continual support of Love the Sn**ch over the years. Hopefully we will be able to make it to the beach next year!

Today we honour Jen.

Thank you to everyone who is remembering Jen in your own way. It has been 3 years, but her spirit is still alive in all of us.

We love you, Jen.

This Thursday, May 17th, will mark 3 years since we lost Jen. If you're planning a workout, consider doing the "JY Pi" workout in her memory.

Please share this post in the hopes of getting as many people to honour Jen as we can!
