Starting July 1, 2026, Ontario has made auto insurance more flexible. Some accident benefits that were previously included in every auto insurance policy have now become optional - which may leave you lacking important coverages.

In addition, the definition of who is covered has drastically changed and it is important for you to consider.

As of July 1, 2026, coverage for optional accident benefits is only extended to:
The Named Insured
The spouse of the Named Insured
Dependants of the named insured and of the named insured's spouse
Anyone listed as a driver on the policy

This means that passengers, pedestrians and cyclists who previously may have been covered, are no longer eligible for optional accident benefits.

With these changes, we are suggesting an increase to your liability limit on your policy. Please call us at 519-734-8001 to discuss your options.
