Bank of Canada lowers the overnight rate by 50basis points to 1.25% following suit of the Feds. Now let's see how long it takes the banks to follow suit

The Bank of Canada today lowered its target for the overnight rate by 50 basis points to 1 ¼ percent. The Bank Rate is correspondingly 1 ½ percent and the deposit rate is 1 percent.

Effective April 6th, 2020 the mortgage stress test will be changing.
The new benchmark rate will be based on the insured 5 year fixed rate mortgages.

The new stress test will be the weekly median 5 year fixed insured rate plus 2%.

This change will likely increase buying power by approx 4%
