🌟Like Mother, Like Daughter...🌟

Mammas, if we want our daughters to know a braver, more free and liberated life than what we knew, then we have to show them.

IMO, as mothers, we have the incredible responsibility of shaping the next generation of women. It's not enough to tell our daughters to be brave, we must show them what bravery looks like in action.

Whether it's standing up for what's right, taking on a new challenge, pursuing our passions, facing our fears, taking a leap of faith, sitting at the table or building our own table, elevating and championing each other, and by all means - having fun; our daughters learn from watching us. They see our strength, resilience and determination. By demonstrating courage in our daily lives, we empower them to face their own fears and take bold steps towards their own dreams.

My 12 and 15 year old daughters have never experienced gender inequality, nor do they have any concept of a 'ceiling' (glass or otherwise); and it's my life's mission for them to never know what that means.

Let's inspire our daughters to be confident, fearless and unapologetically themselves, by living as role models of bravery. Actions speak louder than words!

2020 was a year of disruption in colossal proportions. It was also the year that Glennon Doyle released her book, “Untamed”. I have read the book and listened to the audio-book a dozen times. But there was one chapter and one paragraph that changed the trajectory of my life. It was this:

“Let’s conjure up, from the depths of our souls, the truest, most beautiful lives we can imagine for ourselves. These are not pipe dreams, these are our marching orders. These are the blueprints for our lives, our families and the world.”

This paragraph was from the chapter, "Imagine", in which Glennon explores the idea of envisioning a life and world beyond societal constraints and expectations. She encourages readers to let go of conventional norms and to imagine a future shaped by their own true desires and authentic selves. Glennon emphasizes the power of imagination as a tool for personal and collective liberation, advocating for a shift from living by external rules to following one's inner voice and intuition. This chapter is a call to dream and create a more fulfilling and genuine life.

The question posed above and in the caption below was a call to action to me, which altered the course of my life, my family and my career - it’s what led me to here. ⬇️

But the vision doesn’t stop here - I continue to dream big and have big imaginations, which are not mere fantasies, but the directions that guide my actions.

As Brene Brown so eloquently puts it, when people feel valued and heard, they are empowered to innovate, collaborate, and contribute their best ideas. This is not just a nice-to-have; it’s a must-have in any organization that wants to thrive.

When we build environments where everyone feels supported and respected, and where diverse perspectives are not just welcomed but celebrated - we will achieve our greatest successes and make the most significant impact.

I have attached a summary of the key measures in the 2024 proposed federal budget and how they may impact you.

The most notable changes are the increase in the capital gains inclusion rate and the increase in the lifetime capital gains exemption on the sale of qualified small business shares.

Last weekend I had the great pleasure of taking my daughter, Aries, to the Fearless brunch in support of BeaYOUtiful Foundation - a charity that provides confidence programs, mental wellness workshops and self esteem events for female and non-binary youth ages 8-14. This incredible organization, founded by Taylor Hui, focuses on helping the next generation build greater self-worth, positive body image, foster dialogue around mental health and celebrate new friendships through mentorship and community.
Taylor Hui, model and BC 30 Under 30 - you are such an inspiration to these young girls! Thank you for providing this safe place for our teen girls and thank you for dedicating your entire career towards mentoring and inspiring these young women who will someday (sooner than later) lead our businesses, our communities and our country!
Thank you to the ever inspiring Laurie Shopland Coaching, Life Coach and Key Note Speaker at this event, for inviting Aries and me to the Fearless brunch and introducing us to this incredible organization.
