My Story: Why am I a mortgage broker? Well, before I became a mortgage broker, I used a mortgage broker, and it made an impression on me. It was my first home purchase and I had no idea what to do or what my options were. Like most people, I went to my bank where my savings account was. I received typical information like rate and payments, which was fine, but I left feeling not all my questions and concerns could be answered. Like I had a specific limit of time with the person behind the desk, before the next scheduled client showed up. Then that was it. Away I went, informed but still overwhelmed and semi confused.
A friend of a friend referred me to a mortgage broker. I was a little unsure as I wasn’t aware of who they were or what they do, but decided that having more advice wasn’t a bad thing, so I made the call. As it turned out, not only was the broker brilliant, but he was also very patient with me and made me feel like he was only a phone call or text away if I needed clarification or “stress therapy”, and trust me, I needed it and used it. Additionally, I wasn’t even aware of all the options that were available to me from so many different banks that they work with. Each lender has its own set of rules, rates, benefits and they are not all created equal. In the end, I actually felt excited about taking the step to home ownership, and not terrified.
This level of “making, and not breaking” the experience really resonated with me and made me want to pass that experience on to others who are in a similar predicament. This leads to where I am today.
Money can be scary. Having it, not having it, spending it, borrowing it. It has the power to thrill and terrorize at the same time. But having someone in your corner that you trust, is transparent, reliable, book smart and street smart, and genuinely cares about your success and not just their own, makes a world of difference. To put it simply, the greatest gift you can give yourself is peace of mind,
and having the right specialist looking out for you, is a big part of what will help you sleep well at night.
Now that you know my story, I’d love to hear yours...
