Even if you work with a professional, your tax return is still your responsibility.
Every year I see avoidable mistakes — missing deductions, incorrect pension amounts, or credits that weren’t claimed simply because no one double-checked the details.
In my Spring newsletter, I walk through: ✅ The key sections of your T1 to review
✅ Common error spots (RRSPs, pensions, FHSA, credits)
✅ A simple way to catch mistakes before you file
It’s a quick, practical overview designed to help you feel confident before you sign anything.

This has come up a few times this week and it got some of us chuckling.
What can I say 🤷🏻‍♀️ we become close and I’m often someone that knows the most personal stuff about you.
I kind of sit on the sidelines as you go through life but I’m often one of the first people that’s notified about major things.
I’m one of the first calls after a birth, after a death, after a diagnosis, after a job transition, after a house purchase and how many pregnancies I’ve found out about before “we haven’t told people yet”.
It’s an odd position but I’m so grateful for every single one of you that shares your journey with me ❤️

- Where will you cut back if needed?
Example gas prices spike… not forecasting just an example
- Are there pending tasks in your financial plan?
Wills/POAs/ Beneficiary updates
Having these discussions ahead of time will put you ahead of the game ✅

Life moves fast.
Take the time to update the list of what you own and who you owe just in case.
This list can save an executor HOURS of tracking time.

The big one here is RRIF payments folks.
You can only income split your RRIF payments with your spouse after 65 - this is also when they become eligible for the pension income credit.
Should you defer RRIF withdrawals until after 65? Maybe… likely not completely but it can alter the “sweet spot” for maximum RRIF meltdown strategies.
This is very individual based so connect if you want to chat about your situation.

One of my travel insurance partners has announced that as of February 22, 2026, the situation in Mexico will now be classified as a known event.
Because this is now a known event, no coverage applies for any losses or claims related to the situation. It is important to check your group coverage plan or any travel insurance plan, if you have trips booked to Mexico in the coming weeks to confirm how your coverage has been impacted.
✈️🇲🇽 Stay safe everyone ❤️

A great client experience is always a top priority for me.
Lately I’ve been noticing when dealing with other companies that people no longer offer solutions - simply roadblocks without offering any workarounds or strategies to at least get in the direction that I’m trying to go.
Have you noticed this?
I will always offer ideas or creative suggestions to work towards your goals - if I have nothing I will tell you that I have nothing so you know that I’ve thought about it.
A bit of reflection this morning ☕️

I remember studying for my insurance license and feeling perplexed that there was so much about our (mine and husbands) own situation that we didn’t understand and actually taking the time to review our group long term disability blew my mind.
I’ve changed the figures but used a very real calculation on how this could work.

Annual income $150,000 base + $25,000 bonuses last year = $14,583/month

Group disability plan
Maximum 66.67% of base salary
