Can I get approved for a mortgage if I'm self-employed?"

I get this question constantly, so let's settle it: yes, absolutely. It just takes a slightly different approach than a typical paycheque does.

Lenders will usually want 2 years of self-employment income, your Notices of Assessment, and some financial documentation. But the real key is finding a lender who knows how to work with self-employed income (write-offs and all). That's exactly where having a broker in your corner pays off.
