Next week brings not only the deadline for 50% U.S. tariffs but also the tenth anniversary of The Tragically Hip’s final concert. We enlist that group to assess the current state of play on the trade front and the economy more broadly.

The combination of last week’s wishy-washy-on-hikes press conference, a pullback in energy prices, and a surprisingly soggy July payrolls result has thrown a wet blanket on tightening prospects.

Congratulations to the ladies of the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club for the very successful 28th Annual Rose of Hope Golf Tournament. A special thanks to Sherri McCullough, the fearless and dynamic leader of this endeavour.

Anne Desgagnés, Senior Investment Advisor & Portfolio Manager was proud to be there as a sponsor with the Women of BMO Financial Group.

The event raised $390,000 to continue advancing breast health at Kingston Health Sciences Centre in support of early screening and detection, treatment and improving the care journey of patients across southeastern Ontario. Since inception, Rose of Hope has raised over $4 million towards breast health in our community. Every woman and the people who love them, owe the ladies of the Rose of Hope a huge debt of gratitude. Their tireless efforts, energy, passion are saving the lives in our community. We all know breast cancer survivors.

Proud to support such an important cause.

It may be too early to say that the Chair’s honeymoon with markets is over, but the early Treasury market reaction certainly leaned in that direction.

Anne Desgagnés Wealth Management is proud to be sponsoring the Rose of Hope Golf Tournament for the 4th year in a row on July 28, 2026 at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. This marks the 27th year for this incredible event. We are grateful for the many volunteers, sponsors, and participants who make this event possible for such a vital cause.

Over the years, the Rose of Hope has raised more than $3.5 million to advance breast cancer care in South Eastern Ontario, including funding a dedicated MRI breast imaging program, and now supporting the Rose of Hope Clinical Chair in Breast Health at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Donations help improve access to earlier detection, better care, and better outcomes for patients close to home. This saves lives of women in our community. Most of us personally know some of those survivors who have benefited from early detection and intervention. Investing in savings the lives of women in our community is a brilliant investment in our collective present and future.
