You know how I've been making a point to have more coffee and lunch meetings? Well, last Friday I got to finally sit down with someone truly special—Monika Fermoni, an inspiring local business owner, author, and pillar of our Innisfil community.

We met at Harbour Grill and the conversation just flowed. It wasn't about sales pitches or elevator pitches—it was about real connection. Two people who immigrated to Canada, built families, started businesses, and genuinely care about making our community better.

Here's what I loved learning: Monika's incredible work across multiple local businesses, her award-winning books, and her passion for textiles and fabrics. And here's the fun part—back in the '90s in Tel Aviv, I graduated from a fashion design school! So now I'm diving into her book about fabrics. That's the magic of genuine connection: you never know what common ground you'll discover. 🧵

The promise we made: We're going to collaborate on some exciting joint ventures starting this fall, and we're both committed to pouring our resources, education, and ideas back into the community that's given us so much.

This is why I keep saying: Get to know the people around you. There are so many beautiful, hardworking souls in our own backyard just waiting to be discovered and collaborated with.

☕ Coffee Conversations: Where the Real Insights Happen
Last week, I hosted several coffee meetings with people from my past connections, and I have to say—these informal chats are where the magic happens.

One conversation in particular stood out. I reconnected with a client I hadn't seen in a while, and she shared something that's on a lot of minds right now: anxiety about AI and job security. She was worried that automation might make her role obsolete and wasn't sure where to turn next.

Instead of just listening, I did what I love to do—I shared insights, offered perspective, and most importantly, motivated her to take action. We talked through her strengths, explored new professional development opportunities, and mapped out her next steps.

But here's the best part: She followed up with me afterward and said something I won't forget. She told me she was impressed with who I've become as a person, and reminded me we've known each other for over 12 years. She was genuinely grateful she'd made time to meet.

Even though this wasn't a traditional "prospect-advisor" conversation, she used the examples and insights we discussed to start researching her own path forward.
