The Canadian housing market is showing more signs of finding its footing.
Home sales increased for the fourth month in a row in July, while new listings dipped 1.6%. That pushed the national market closer to what’s considered a balanced market, meaning buyers generally have more room to make decisions without the same pressure we’ve seen in recent years.
Home prices also edged up 0.1% from June, marking the first monthly increase in the national benchmark since November 2024. Prices are still down 3.3% from this time last year, but that decline continues to narrow.
The takeaway? The market is looking a little more balanced, and buyers are gradually coming back off the sidelines.
