As if being raised by my tiny human and my pup isn't excitement enough, I've decided it's time for more adventures in the Great Wide Somewhere of the working world.

I'm excited to announce that after 9 wonderful years in the Canada Life ecosystem, I am switching things up. I have recently joined Investia Financial services and created my own independent financial planning company.

I'm grateful to my friends, family and clients for supporting me throughout this transitional phase and excited for the growth and adventures to come!

Ps. Yes, the "raised by" was intentional. These little creatures keep me on my toes and learning new things every day!

This was a fun article! Even though it is pretending Barbie is British with British pensions to consider, it still works as an entertaining case study for all of us. :)

Barbie is now 64. The blonde plastic bombshell has been massively successful: there are thought to be more Barbie dolls in the US than there are people. And she has totted up more than 200 careers. But as she heads towards her Retirement Dreamhouse, what is the likely state of her finances?

It's officially summer so I busted out this bad boy for today's team zoom calls. None of my colleagues were phased by this. They're used to me by now.

It's got a collar so it's professional, right? ;)

(Okay, maybe not but no clients saw it until now - and you all know I'm a bit out there, so it's not a surprise.)

Side note: my Dad used to have a hilarious wardrobe of weird collared shirts he used to skirt his work's only requirement that they wear collared shirts. My favourites were a Spiderman shirt that he says will form part of his estate and a Corona shirt.

So, today's random question (just because I need to get back to posting more often): how do you have fun with your professional wardrobe? Do you have major seasonal swings or does it stay mainly the same year round?

I find this article very interesting and HAD to share. I know they say sometimes people look like their pets, but apparently now we can spend and invest money like them too. Thinking about how Linky is, this really makes me wonder about myself! Haha. Perhaps Link shall be the newest associate on the Lazar Wealth team!

Did you know: People unconsciously reflect their pets' stereotypical traits. Dog owners were found to be more likely than cat owners to opt for stocks, and they allocated more money to them than the relatively few cat owners who made that choice did.

Let’s talk about “success,” baby!

Channelling my inner “Salt-N-Pepa” (ok, not really… or at least, not well). For some reason, my mind went down an interesting path the other day in terms of overthinking about words and I thought I’d share some of the weirdness with you all.

If you ever hear Isaac (the principal of my firm) speak, he’ll be sure to mention his concept behind Lazar Wealth Succession Strategies – his main goal being to build a diverse team of different age groups at different points in their career so that he doesn’t have to find an advisor for himself, his family or his clients when he is 80 (if he ever fully retires). “Succession” in this case is a noun referring to the passing down of a business from one person to the next. Of course, “succession” can also apply to transfer of wealth via an inheritance to your dependents or other desired beneficiaries – or even the crown! (Not that we need to talk about the Charles/William/Harry/Megan dynamic more right now!)

 On the other hand, we have “succeed.” This is a verb referring to either the ACT of succession as mentioned earlier, but also can mean the act of “achieving the desired aim or result.”

 Our goal here at Lazar Wealth is to “tell it how it is, and how it could be” and to talk about SUCCESS with you! The first step in succeeding (obtaining wealth, thrones, or all of the above) is being able to clearly define what that means for you… and then we’ll help you take it from there!

I like these lyrics and feel they fit the sentiment of this photo from my Iceland trip and International Women's Day.

Still grateful to be working with clients and colleagues who keep me motivated and inspired every day! Keeping today's post light and short, though as my brain is tired this week.

Ps. Fun fact: this ice cave is actually inside an epic museum. Great for if you're not visiting Iceland in prime ice cave time or just want a lazier day in Reykjavik.

When you're thinking of sorting out your financial planning for the first time and you're nervous but excited at the same time! And then, you decide to just go with it and enjoy the ride.

There's always a bit of a learning curve when it comes to anything new - and that's part of the fun of it. This weekend, Link tested out some agility equipment for the first time and had a blast. His learning and training is constantly ongoing - and that's the way it should be.

Similarly, financial planning is always a work in progress - so jump on in and enjoy the ride! My team and I are happy to help smooth things out so it's less bumpy. :)

Note: the only thing I can't smooth out are my awkward segues. 😂
