This is actually a fair question.
And it deserves a real answer.

"Scam" is the wrong word.
But "confusing on purpose"?
Yeah. That one lands.

The real problem isn't that closing costs exist. It's that most buyers find out exactly what they are... at the closing table.

That's not a scam. That's just a broken system nobody bothered to fix because confusion benefits the people who profit from it.

Your agent should be walking you through every single line item BEFORE you get to that table.

If they didn't? That's the conversation to have.
