The Venture Grade team is excited to announce their first official company exit! This investment has yielded a considerable return for the Venture Grade Fund.
In 2018, the fund invested $15,000 in the travel-based start-up “Trip Ninja”. Founded in 2015 by co-founder and CEO Andres Collart, Trip Ninja originally catered to the B2C market by helping travelers book inexpensive multi-city flights; however, their focus later shifted to the B2B market by helping travel agents navigate and expedite the complex flight booking process using machine learning algorithms.
In late November 2021, Trip Ninja was acquired by the company Webjet, operating out of Melbourne, Australia. Webjet is a large publicly traded firm, with a market cap just short of $2 billion (CAD).
We are thrilled to share this exciting news, and we congratulate Tripninja on their tremendous success!

Another exciting upcoming event which will be attended by Venture Grade team members is the Genesis: Evolution Pitch and Pick - Fall 2021 Cohort. Held this Wednesday December 8th from 2:30PM-4:30PM, this event will feature pitches from various start-ups, presenting their companies to representatives from academia, public and private funding agencies, and the local tech community. A panel of expert industry judges will crown the winner, and the audience will be able to vote for a Community Choice recipient. KorrAI is a Halifax-based mineral exploration and mining technology company that provides a Data-as-a-Service platform that assembles geological data into digital maps. Upon performing due diligence, the Venture Grade team elected to invest $12,500 in the company. We are very excited for the future of KorrAI!

Members of the Venture Grade team recently had the privilege of receiving a free product demonstration from 3D Planeta. The company's software allows viewing of 3D maps based on aerial, satellite, and underwater imagery.
Venture Grade was impressed by the company's team and growth potential. After a complete due diligence was performed, the Venture Grade fund invested $12,500 in the company. We are very excited for the future of 3D Planeta!

To conclude the introduction of this year's Venture Grade team, we are pleased to introduce Foyin Senbanjo. Foyin is a full-time MBA student at Saint Mary’s University. Prior to starting her MBA, Foyin completed her undergraduate business degree at the University of Prince Edward Island, and received her CPA designation in 2020.
Foyin has several years of work experience in project management, financial accounting, and consulting roles at various organizations. Her interest in entrepreneurship stems from wanting to learn more about startups, fund-raising, and venture capital. In her spare time, Foyin enjoys podcasts, music and reading.

This is an excellent entrepreneurship event which will be attended by members of the Venture Grade team. This event is the follow-up to last week's Volta Pitch Competition. The 15 shortlisted companies will pitch their business tomorrow at 5:30PM (AST) with the chance to be named one of 5 cohort companies. Volta Cohort provides mentorship, resources and investments of $25,000 through a microfund co-founded by Volta, BDC Capital, Innovacorp and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
