Once again, we have another potentially damaging storm moving in.

As with any weather system, please be sure you have enough food, water, batteries, blankets, etc. to last a minimum of three days. With the high winds and rain, NSP will be very busy and of course, are not able to restore power until it is safe to do so.

Any items you have outside that could easily take flight, patio furniture, trampolines, toys, decor, etc. please either secure it, or bring it inside.

Look around your property for any potential hazards, tree branches hanging over your roof or powerlines. If there are tree branches over your powerlines, DO NOT attempt to remove these yourself, call NSP right away and report it.

If you have neighbour's that are elderly, check on them to make sure they are okay, or to see if they need anything.

Stay safe everyone.

Vern Paul Insurance.

Once again, our province has been hit with another disaster. If you are in any of the areas that have been flooded or in an evacuation area, please call the office so we can provide you with the claims department details.

As many of you know, we do not handle the claims in the office, but will happily give you the claims number to contact.

Stay safe, and if possible and safe to do so, check on your family, friends, and neighbors.

Exciting news, we are moving!! Effective February 23rd, 2023, our office is moving to 2 Ralston Ave, which is just seconds up the road from where we currently are. The building is located on the corner of Windmill Road and Ralston Ave, directly across the street from Starbucks!! The parking lot is located on Ralston Ave. When you walk in, you will be greeted by Andrew, he will then offer you tea or coffee, and bring you to our office, or we will come out and meet you.

We hope to see everyone soon. If you call us tomorrow and get the voicemail, leave a message as we will be moving for a good part of the day, but will call you back as soon as possible.

Well, it seems we haven't dodged the spring like weather yet. Keep an eye on the Tropical Cyclone Information Statements that are being issued for this weekend. We could see lots of rain and wind, power outages and debris flying around. If you have thing's outside that need to be secured, tomorrow looks like the day to get outside and do it.

A lot of downed trees may still be a concern after the last Hurricane that came through, so if you are going to be out and about this weekend, be mindful of your surroundings and take extra caution on the roads.

If we lose power, make sure you have enough food and water to get you and your family, including any fur babies, through at least 72 hours. Make sure to have extra batteries, working flashlights so not to have to rely on candles, your BBQ tank is full, water ran off if you are on a well, warm clothes and please be careful when using any heating appliances, especially since not everyone has been able to get them cleaned yet. Hopefully, since NSP has been constantly working since the last Storm, that we will not have to worry about long outages.

If you know a neighbour who is alone or elderly, please check on them to make sure they have what they need.

We hope everyone has a safe weekend and that this storm just passes through as a regular rainy, windy day in the Maritimes!

Keep a close eye on this one and be prepared.

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and were able to spend some time with family.

With COVID 19 still in full swing, we have decided to continue to work from home for the time being. We will continue to service you as we do any other day, it will just be remotely for the time being. We understand that sometimes things can't be done remotely so not to worry, we can make arrangements to meet you at the office if need be.

Our phone lines will still be answered, Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 4:30pm. If you call and we don't answer, please leave us a message and one of us will call you back as soon as possible.

We do have a drop slot at the office. If you have something to drop off, please feel free to use it. Lindsay is back and forth a few times a week to collect things. If it is something urgent that you are dropping off, let us know you've dropped it off so we can collect it right away.

Please stay safe and remember, be kind to one another, we are all in this together.

As always, we thank you for choosing Vern Paul Insurance.

Have you heard about Intact's My Drive Program? No? Let me ask you a few questions

- Do you want to save money on your vehicle insurance?
- Do you know your own driving habits?
- Do you have someone who will be getting a license in the near future and want to promote good driving habits for them?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, give us a call.

This program will save you 10% on your vehicle insurance just for signing up. You can potentially save up to 30%. Who doesn't want to save money! That savings could be that new pair of designer shoes you have been eyeing or a new BBQ for the summer!

The discount is calculated every 6 months. That means, if you had a bad first term, you can improve your habits for the next time around. The program is a continuous program that will stay with you and save you money as long as you are with Intact.

The program looks at the following:
- Hard breaking
- Rapid acceleration
- Time of day driven
- Distracted driving, such as cell phone use. Speaking of distracted driving, did you know that a cell phone ticket will be moving from a minor conviction to a major conviction in the very near future? What this means is that if you have one of these tickets most regular market companies, such as Intact, won't insure you. What better time to take advantages of this program and kick the distracted driving habit!

With this program, you can see your driving habits right from your phone. How cool is that! It will show you what discount you are on track to get as well as the areas you have done well with and the ones that need improvement.

Have I sparked your interest? Give us a call today!
