Raised grain? Here's how to finish it:

1. Sand to medium grit (180-220)
2. Apply finish (like a friction polish) and let it dry
3. Sand raised grain down again
4. Apply another coat of finish

5. Repeat until smooth

Some woods grains will raise (the fuzzy texture) more than others, and depending on the species and coarseness of the fibers, you may need to repeat the process a few times
