What Is Cremation?
Cremation is a process that reduces human remains to bone fragments through mechanical, thermal, or other methods.

Why do people choose cremation?
The decision is deeply personal and may be influenced by religious beliefs, environmental concerns, cost, or individual preferences.

If you're considering cremation or have questions about planning, our funeral directors are here to guide you with compassion and care. Reach out anytime—we're here always to help you! ✨

When a loved one passes—whether at home, in a care facility, or under hospice—knowing what to do next can feel overwhelming.

If the death occurs at home without hospice, contact the police so they can notify the coroner. If it happens in a hospital, nursing home, or hospice, the staff will handle initial notifications and contact the funeral home if one has been designated.

Once the proper authorities have been notified, your next step is calling a licensed funeral director. They’ll assist with:
• Obtaining the death certificate
• Coordinating transportation
• Handling legal paperwork
• Planning the funeral or memorial service
• Personalizing the ceremony to honor your loved one’s life

Meeting with a funeral director within 24 hours is encouraged. You don’t have to navigate this alone—the funeral professionals at Jones Funeral Home are here to guide and support you through every step. šŸ’™

An obituary is more than just a notice—it’s a tribute. Whether published in a local paper or online, it lets the community know of a loved one’s passing and shares meaningful details like their name, family, accomplishments, and service information.

While newspaper space may be limited, online obituaries allow room to reflect on the life, legacy, and stories that made them who they were. It’s a lasting way to honor and remember. šŸ’™

Giving a eulogy or writing an obituary can feel overwhelming—but these acts of remembrance are powerful ways to honor a loved one’s legacy.

āœļø Eulogy Tips:
• Gather stories from family and friends
• Organize your thoughts and write it out
• Keep it short, heartfelt, and even a little humorous (with care)
• Practice reading it aloud
• Let your emotions show—tears are part of the tribute

šŸ“° Obituary Basics:
• Include key life details—birthplace, education, career, hobbies
• Mention family members, both living and predeceased
• Share service information clearly
• Keep it brief if submitting to newspapers
• Optional: Add a personal message or note of thanks

Every story deserves to be remembered with dignity, care, and love. šŸ’™

About Our Funeral Home

At a time of loss, it is easy to become overwhelmed by feelings of grief, fear, anger, and confusion. Despite these feelings, you will be required to make many important decisions, within a relatively short period of time. We, at the Jones Funeral Home, understand your needs, and are ready to support you with care and compassion. One of the ways we can help is by offering you resource material designed to assist you in outlining what must be done and in what order to do it. With our tastefully decorated visitation facilities, a formal chapel with seating for 200 plus and reception facilities for post-funeral gatherings in the "Trafalgar Room", we can fulfill your needs with all types of dignified services, whether you choose cremation or burial. Many people today choose to pre-arrange their funeral since it relieves the family of many difficult decisions during an emotionally vulnerable time. We can offer you arrangement options that you may tailor to suit any individual budget. You may outline special requests that would add meaning to the experience for your family. We can also arrange the pre-financing of funerals to ensure that the price you pay today will cover rising funeral costs in the future. We are a Canadian owned, family-operated funeral home and are not owned by a large conglomerate, which allows us to tailor our policies to the needs of the families in this area. To help cope with your loss, our staff can provide resource material dealing with grief and bereavement issues. If you wish, we can also refer you to qualified agencies and organizations that may help. For further information, you can contact us at any time.
