I started my insurance career in the early 90’s as a summer student. I literally started at the bottom in the file room, yes way back then there were rooms full of paper files. Underwriters would call out a number and I would run to retrieve that file for them. It was an inefficient time but I got my exercise. oncton. An entry level position but instead of filing I had my own desk and computer, no email but a computer. I was doing data entry for personal insurance products but I realized early on that this wasn’t for me. I was offered a position as a commercial lines underwriter with Economical Mutual Insurance Co in 1991 and that’s when things started getting interesting for me. I worked at Economical for 5 years honing my skills, identifying risk and offering suggested coverage to protect against that risk. Then I met my future wife and a change was necessary. I moved to Fredericton in 1996 so that I could be close to her, and I started working in sales for a local brokerage. Instead of underwriting commercial risks, I was selling commercial products for those risks and working with underwriters to help me get the best products and prices for these businesses I was approaching. I did this for 11 years before deciding I needed another change. I went to work on the marketing side of the business with RSA Insurance Co of Canada. During 5 years with RSA I got to meet a lot of really great people all over New Brunswick as well as the rest of Canada. This was not for me however so I got back into the sales role with another local insurance brokerage. Commercial insurance sales is my passion and I believe I do it better than anyone else. That’s why I decided to start my own insurance brokerage specializing in Commercial Insurance Sales. I can do the other stuff, ask me about your home and auto too.
