🚨 BIG NEWS for Canadian homeowners 🚨

After months of pressure from the mortgage industry, OSFI has officially removed the stress test requirement when switching an uninsured (conventional) mortgage at renewal — as long as your mortgage balance and amortization stay the same.

💡 What does this mean?
✔️ Over 70% of Canadian mortgages are uninsured
✔️ Many homeowners now have more freedom to switch lenders
✔️ Better rates, better terms, more negotiating power

Insured mortgages already had this flexibility — now uninsured homeowners may finally be able to shop around without penalty.

⚠️ Important note:
Even though the rule has changed, some lenders may still apply the stress test at their discretion, depending on your full financial picture.

👉 Why this matters at renewal:
More lender competition = more options for you. And that can mean real savings.

📩 If your mortgage is coming up for renewal, this is the perfect time to review your options and make sure you’re not leaving money on the table.
