Year-End Checklist for Church Treasurers & Boards - 2023 Edition 🗂️

If your church’s year-end is December 31 like many Canadian Churches, we have built this quick list to ensure your church's financial matters are in order. Take note, even if your fiscal year differs, these steps are still valuable for consideration.

✅ **Budget for the New Year:** If your 2024 Church Budget isn't finalized yet, it's not too late to create it. Have it approved by your church board, preferably before the New Year starts.

✅ **Clergy Residence Deduction Forms:** Prepare to issue new T1223E forms for 2023 (if not done already) for your ordained pastors and staff. Also, consider filing Form T1213E to reduce your payroll deductions in 2024.

✅ **Charitable Donation Receipts:** Remember that charitable donation receipts for 2023 can only be issued for donations received on or before Dec 31. Donations received after December 31 can't be used for 2023 tax returns.

✅ **Year-End Closing of Church Accounts:**

- Ensure that all financial accounts are in order:
- Reconcile all bank accounts for 2023
- Account for all receivables and payables
- Deposit all cash donations received by Dec 31st
- Issue charitable donation receipts for any donations received before December 31

✅ **T3010 Filing:** Complete and submit the T3010 form within six months from the end of your church's fiscal year.
