“Should I put my money in a TFSA or RRSP?”

It’s one of the questions we get asked all the time. And the slightly annoying financial planner answer is… it depends.

Neither account is automatically “better.” The right choice depends on things like:
• Your current income and tax bracket
• What you’re saving for
• When you’ll need the money
• What your income may look like in retirement
• Whether you have an employer pension
• Your available contribution room
• Your overall financial plan

For some people, prioritizing the TFSA makes the most sense. For others, the tax deduction from an RRSP can be really valuable. And often, there’s a place for both.

As we say goodbye to summer and welcome a new season, it’s a great time for a financial review.

Life changes, priorities shift, and sometimes the plan we made six months ago needs a few updates.

Take a little time this fall to check in on:

🍂 Any debt you’re working on
🍂 Your insurance coverage and beneficiaries
🍂 Expenses coming up before the end of the year
🍂 The goals you’re currently working toward

And most importantly, make sure the numbers in your financial plan still reflect what your life looks like today.

-Taking the scenic route down country roads with the windows down.
-Going strawberry picking, fresh Ontario strawberries are hard to beat!
-BBQs with family and friends, good food, great conversations, and making memories together.

A few of my favourite summer things;
-Dog walks
-Recreational sports (with a strong emphasis on the recreational)
-Spending time with family and friends, preferably near, on, or in the water

The simple things are the best 🤍. Whether it's a walk with my dogs, a game that's more about the laughs than the score, or a summer afternoon spent by the water with the people I love, these are the moments that help me recharge.
