WARNING – watch your rates, pennies really do matter!

Pennies absolutely matter when it comes to growing your principal. The Power of Compound interest can be said like this: watch your pennies and the dollars will build.

A good financial discipline would always be to watch your pennies, in other words, a GIC rate of 3% vs 3.1% is important as those pennies are going to add up.

Why not give me a call for the best GIC rate, as I’m confident we can watch those pennies accelerate your savings.

Tax Free Savings Account
Did you know that your Tax Free Savings Account is retroactive? This means that in 2026 you can have $109,000 in contributions! If you had $102,000 in your TFSA in 2025 but withdrew it for various reasons, you can re-contribute back into the TFSA in 2026 without penalty, plus 2026’s contribution, which will be an additional $7,000. In this season of giving, why not give yourself the gift of a TFSA - the gift that keeps on giving?

Years → TFAS Dollar Limit → Cumulative Total
2026 → $7,000 → $109,000
2025 → $7,000 → $102,000
2024 → $7,000 → $95,000
2023 → $6,500 → $88,000
2022 → $6,000 → $81,500
2021 → $6,000 → $75,500
2020 → $6,000 → $69,500
2019 → $6,000 → $63,500
2018 → $5,500 → $57,500
2017 → $5,500 → $52,000
2016 → $5,500 → $46,500
2015 → $10,000 → $41,000
2014 → $5,500 → $31,000
2013 → $5,500 → $25,500
2009–2012: $5,000 → $20,000

RRSPs – Did you know?
1. RRSPs are a great way to save for retirement.
2. Earn compounded interest over time. Picture compound interest as a snowball rolling down a hill, it gets larger and larger as it rolls down the hill, packing more snow into the ball.
3. You can use your RRSP towards your first home, without penalty. This provides a double benefit – growing your RRSP and taking your tax refund, and putting that into your savings account towards your down payment.
4. Education – yes, if qualified, you can pull funds out, again without penalty, for life-long learning.
5. Flexibility in how you invest – mutual funds or GICs, you choose.

Seriously, can you afford not to purchase RRSPs? To find out more about the benefits of RRSPs, contact [email protected]

TFSA
If you don’t already have a TFSA (TAX Free Savings Account), ask yourself why not? If you have one and have not maximized it, ask yourself why not?

A TFSA is the opportunity to invest without paying taxes on the income earned within the account. Your money will grow faster, and you can withdraw from it at any time with no fees or penalties.

A TFSA in today’s economy just makes sense. If you are paying taxes on your interest earned in your savings account, consider moving it to a TFSA.

Let us help you maximize your savings by opening a new TFSA, and with our highly competitive GIC rates, you can sit back, relax and watch the growth!

For more information, don’t hesitate to give me a call.
