It was a family day for us last Thursday. The IG Wealth Management Estevan Office had a little fun last Thursday sponsoring a hole at the Networking On The Green tournament put on by the Chamber of Commerce. Sarah, August and I got to spend the day serving elephant ears and ice coffees with Elephant Ear Emporium (this is our second year in a row doing this with them which is extra fun as Dean and Christie are family!) I want to thank Cathy Empey and Jackie Wall for always doing such an amazing job for the Estevan Chamber of Commerce. I also want to thank Chris Hammett who filled in with team MNP (my brother in law - Daryl Donovan) who was in a bind for another golfer.

We were so happy to have the opportunity to buy Ava Mann’s steer (the Reserve Champion) at last week’s Estevan Regional 4H show. I also want to congratulate and thank everyone who attended, bid, and bought at the auction because it always amazes the generosity of our local business community. I have been attending this event the last several years and I am always inspired by how hard the kids work, and what great lessons that a program like 4H teaches them as they age, finish their education, and enter the workforce.

A very long post but something that has been on my mind for the greater part of the last six months. How much I have changed in the past ten years might be told best by these pictures. June 27th, 2022 marks a decade at IG Wealth Management. Along with spending a decade at IG I received some recognition for last year as one of the top ten Division Directors in the company and being named to President’s Council. This is humbling, and really a true testament to the individuals and support system that I have around me.

So, I am going to take a minute to give these individuals the credit they deserve because without them I am not who I am. I would first like to thank my clients for their unbelievable support and trust they put in me to handle their financial affairs. Times like the last two years have been difficult to comprehend for everyone and it is solid financial planning that continues to be our utmost focus and helping our clients achieve financial flexibility and meet their goals no matter how big or small they may be. Second, is my wife Sarah and family. No person I know is as patient and willing to support me and I could not ask for more from her when it comes to letting me have the flexibility to be at the office for long hours, weekends, or countless other times over the past several years. To my parents (even though they don’t have Facebook) who have supported me from the second I started at IG Wealth Management as a 22-year-old and helped us renovate the office space we imagined in 2021. Next is the team I have around me, as well as the individual that taught me how to love this career. Chris Hammett thank you being the individual that I need you to be. We are similar in so many ways but are just different enough to complement each other in our long-term vision in the IG Estevan Office. Jarrett Daoust, thank you for letting me be one of your many teachers and more importantly thank you for helping me grow to be a better financial planner through our hundreds of conversations over the past few years. Twyla, Jodine, and Andy thank you for being the glue that keeps us together. The support and care that you put into taking care of our clients is unbelievable and we would not be who are as an office without you. Finally, is to my mentor and predecessor Gail Dodds (also doesn’t have Facebook but she needs as much recognition as anyone). The guidance and framework you gave me to make me grow has helped me get to where I am today. I will be forever grateful for your mentorship and more importantly your friendship. People that know both Gail and I know the number of hours we spent over our nearly nine years together as a team, and without her I do not know where I would be. She also is my inspiration to teach other consultants when they start off with IG Wealth Management.

What a fun day Thursday was at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course. The IG Wealth Management Estevan Office spent the day teaming up with Elephant Ear Emporium to sponsor a hole at the Estevan Chamber of Commerce golf tournament. If you have not been to Elephant Ear Emporium you are TRULY missing out. Thanks to Christie and Dean for coming and spending the day with Chris, Sarah and I. It's always more fun to work together with others in the community, especially when it's family!

A shoutout is also deserved to Cathy Empey and Jackie Wall from the Estevan Chamber of Commerce for putting on another incredible event. These two ladies are such a good team and I am so very fortunate to get to work with them both as a part of the board.

When Chris and I started working towards our partnership at IG Wealth Management in July of 2019 we discussed so many things. Business growth, Office Growth, and Community Growth being three big areas of focus. This area of the province has been our homes for our entire lives and this community and area mean everything to us. Supporting local and practicing what we preach was our big push over the past 16 months as there has been more than just pandemic related struggles in our part of the world. We are so excited that we have added individuals like Jarrett that share our values and I want to thank him for coming with me to the auction last night. My pride in him makes me believe that IG Wealth Management will thrive and grow for so many years along side Chris and I. I want to tell a little story about something that I have learned through attending the great local 4-H events.

In my family the joke is that I am an “inside kid”. I was raised in a gymnasium as my father was a Physical Education teacher at ECS and he spent so much time pushing me to who I am today. I will be forever grateful to him for those experiences and lessons learned. Other kids like my wife Sarah’s family are “outside kids” and 4-H was one of their places to learn life skills. I have such a deep respect for the 4-H clubs in our area as I have spent the last 6 years learning and watching at shows and auctions.

I received a phone call from Sarah yesterday about our nephew Hudson Mann (age 7) and how he was emotional about selling his steer and having it butchered for the first time. Sarah explained to me even up to when she was 18 years of age, she would still get emotional when selling her steer and that she would really appreciate it if I tried to purchase Hudson’s. Our office had decided this year that this would be a local program we are going to support moving forward. When we purchased Hudson’s steer last night the relief in his face when he ran up and hugged me after the show made even me a little emotional. This young man is his mom and dad through and through. Full of determination and daredevil at times like Gregg, and kind and compassionate much like my sister-in-law Alisha. The lesson being here that hard work, determination, and life lessons are learned in so many ways. Hudson’s are 4-H and racing, and mine were volleyball and basketball both of which teach lessons that we carry for life.

Everyone at our office wants to thank the local 4-H clubs for all the hard work they put in last night. It could not have been easy to trudge through the weather we received, and all the kids should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished last night.

If you haven't been to the Estevan Motor Speedway I highly recommend it. It's such a fun atmosphere and the racing community in Estevan seems like such a tight knit group. Friday night was a fun night with the Mann family watching the races. Hudson (my nephew) had asked me at Christmas if I would sponsor his slingshot, and I was honored that my family would think of me. Thank you to Gregg and Alisha Mann for bringing this opportunity to the IG Wealth Management Office in Estevan we are grateful that could be a part of Hudson's sponsors.

By completing this project and adding some extremely talented individuals to our team we have positioned ourselves for growth and welcome the addition of new families to our client bases.
