Not even the mighty insurers are escaping this tough environment of COVID-19 and low interest rates. Sun Life is increasing rates on some of it's life and living benefits products (see article below).

What's more interesting is that other insurers (I won't name names here) are actually DROPPING rates on some life insurance products. It just goes to show you that it's a good idea to deal with a broker who can work with multiple insurers.

Hi everyone!
Two Canadian insurers just announced they will not be paying out travel insurance claims for trip cancellations due to coronavirus. Further, one other Canadian insurer, through an email to brokers, indicated they are postponing life insurance applications submitted for recent travellers to/from China and Hong Kong!

If you are thinking of securing protection for your family with life insurance, NOW is the time to do it before the insurance companies put in a whole bunch of additional restrictions due to COVID-19 on new life insurance applications.

Here is a tragic example of why it's important to use an insurance broker when buying insurance, rather than buying last minute on a smartphone. The "devil is in the details" and here the insurer is using those details to deny a claim. Insurance brokers are experts in insurance and know what to look for to best help the client.

A Fredericton woman is on the hook for nearly $50,000 US in medical bills after falling ill during a trip to Pennsylvania. Sandra White thought she was covered, but a technicality in Blue Cross policy made her claim ineligible.
