9hrs 6mins, 52kms, super tough race , I had to dig deep to find that extra 10%, super happy beat my time from last year by 1hr 32mins.

Legs feel great after a dip in the ocean, more ice bath tomorrow

What we don't think about is the financial impact of a critical illness was to happen to you or our kids.

Typically, the mom will stop working, the other parent will reduce working hours, which equates to loss of household income. Trips to hospitals, ferries to the mainland, fuel, hotels, childcare, to name a few.

Household bills will still need to be maintained, such as phone bills, electricity, mortgage payments, rent etc..

The most common answer I receive is that we have savings, which is fantastic, but at what cost?

Will you withdraw from your RRSPs? If so, did you know you will have to pay tax on the amount withdrawn? To net $100K, you will have to withdraw$140K.

There are many common answers for not protecting.

Do you know who your beneficiaries are on your policies?

Over the years, I have come across on too many occasions that a very high percentage do not know where their policies are, let alone not knowing who the beneficiary are.

Please take the time to go look and make sure it is who you want it to be!
