Here's a simple weekend task that could make a future property claim much easier:

📸 Walk through your home and take photos or video.

Capture your major rooms, appliances, electronics, furniture, renovations, exterior, roofline, and other valuable property.

Then save those files somewhere you can access even if your phone or computer is damaged.

You don't need a loss to start building good documentation.

A Public Adjuster does a lot more than make a few phone calls.

We help review the policy, assess the damage, build the supporting documentation, communicate with the insurer, and negotiate the claim on behalf of the property owner.

The difference is simple: we work for the policyholder.

Your insurance company sent an estimate. Now what? 🤷

Don't look only at the final number. Look at what actually went into it.

➡️ Was every damaged area included?
➡️ Are the measurements accurate?
➡️ Were related expenses considered?
➡️ Does the scope reflect what it will actually take to restore the property?

A detailed review can help uncover questions worth raising before your claim moves forward.

Have an estimate you're unsure about? Let ClearClaim review your claim with you: https://www.clearclaim.ca/contactus.

As we wrap up August, heavy late-summer storms and hurricane threats are peaking. Taking 10 minutes to walk around your property this weekend can save you thousands later.

Look for:
1️⃣ Missing, cracked, or "lifted" shingles on your roofline.
2️⃣ Water pooling close to your foundation after heavy rain.
3️⃣ Your policy limits—with inflation, your 3-year-old policy might not cover today's rebuilding costs!

If you are dealing with a property claim, you might hear an insurance adjuster throw around the phrase "Proximate Cause." It sounds like legal gibberish, but it can make or break your entire payout.

In plain English: Proximate Cause is the initial event that set off a chain reaction of damage.

Why does this matter? Because insurance companies look at the chain of events to find a reason to deny you.

For example:
💨 A massive windstorm rips a shingle off your roof (Event 1).
🌧️ Rain falls through the gap into your attic (Event 2).
🍄 Mold grows on your drywall due to the moisture (Event 3).

If your policy covers windstorms but explicitly excludes mold, a sneaky insurer might try to deny the claim by focusing only on the mold. But because the Proximate Cause (the very first event) was the windstorm, the entire chain of damage should legally be covered.

Don't let confusing jargon talk you out of a fair payout. When they use big words to complicate your claim, we step in to enforce the rules.

When disaster strikes your property, whether it’s a sudden pipe burst or a storm-shattered window, what you do in the first 24 hours heavily impacts how smoothly your recovery goes.

Late summer brings sudden, intense downpours. When a month's worth of rain falls in just a few hours, municipal storm systems get overwhelmed, and that water has to go somewhere. Frequently, it backs up right through basement floor drains.

Here is what most property owners don't realize until it's too late:
A standard property policy usually does NOT automatically cover water that backs up through sewers or drains. Sewer Backup coverage is almost always an optional "endorsement" or rider that you have to manually add to your policy. Without it, a basement flooded with sewer water could cost you tens of thousands out of pocket.

Before the next major summer storm hits, check your policy declarations page for "Water Backup" or "Sewer Endorsement." 🌧️🛑

“Having my home back together again was a relief."

When a client in Halifax reached out to us in 2024, his home was covered in black mold, his health was declining, and he was taking out personal loans just to pay for emergency repairs.

His insurer had abandoned him. After a major disaster, they denied his claim—calling it an uncovered type of "flooding"—and his adjuster went totally ghost for a month. He’d paid his premiums for years, only to be left high and dry when he needed them most.

Then, a friend recommended he call ClearClaim.

Our expert, Francis, stepped in and immediately saw what the insurer missed: it wasn't a flood, it was a sewage backup. And his policy fully covered it. By proving the insurance company had misclassified the damage, we completely overturned the denial.

Don't let your insurance company have the final say. If they claim your damage is "not covered," let us take a second look. At ClearClaim, we don't just fight for your payout—we fight for your peace of mind.

August brings massive summer storms, heavy wind, and sudden hail. But if your roof leaks after a storm this month, watch out for the insurance company's favorite excuse: "That's just wear and tear."

Carriers love to claim that your roof was already old or poorly maintained, using that as a loophole to deny coverage for sudden storm damage.

The Truth: If a storm lifted your shingles or cracked your tiles, causing a sudden leak, it is a covered loss—regardless of whether your roof is 2 or 12 years old. Don't let them blame the weather on your maintenance.

If you got a denial letter blaming "wear and tear" after a recent storm, let us look at your file. We know how to prove storm impact. ⛈️
