In Nova Scotia and PEI, most standard home insurance policies require your property to be checked every 3–5 days if it's vacant, or coverage for certain losses may be limited.
That applies to cottages too.
So if your seasonal property is sitting empty between visits this summer, it's worth knowing what your policy actually says.
