Well I did it - Retired on July 31, 2025, after 39 years with RBC and a total 41 fulfilling, rewarding, and interesting years in the industry, all over southwest Ontario!
The first thing that comes to mind is how blessed and thankful I am for family, friends, colleagues and clients for making the journey so wonderful. In particular my wife Mary Jo, daughters Kaitlyn and Marissa, my brother Dave, and my parent Owen and Ruth for their great example. Thankyou to everyone, including the teams I’ve managed, supported and been on, for your well wishes, support and passion to succeed over the years. There are so many great memories!
I’ve also been reflecting, and as a financial planner, looking to apply the learnings and advice that I have given.. So I’ve been having fun, keeping busy, staying interested, and engaged in the important people and things in my life, thankful for the many relationships, work (professional and volunteer) and for the grace of my Lord and saviour. I’m certain that gratitude and the ability to enjoy is important! I’m reminded of the slogan of one of the many charitable initiatives I’ve had the privilige of being part of- the importance of looking after “Mind, Body and Soul”
As I’ve always said, having clear goals, developing a plan, a strategy, starting early, implementing it and staying disciplined works, with lots of support. It did for me and my wish for all of you is the same - be sure to value and enjoy what is important, and plan to make it happen. Don’t put it off.
Now I’m off to keep implementing the Plan. Enjoy. thrive, be thankful, repeat!
Best wishes, Ken
