Our weekend plans will be finding the perfect pumpkin and getting ready for Thanksgiving!

If you have kids but you're newer to the area, here's a quick breakdown of each place and the reasons we love them.

Shamrock Farm:

This gem of a place has a cute store in a barn! They really utilize the place to make it very aesthetically pleasing and are also known for their lavender. There are also wonderful soaps, candles and some produce. They have all types of pumpkin and gourds. You can also see some of their animals and kids can feed the chickens. This place is fun for all ages but, this was our go to when the kids were younger. The quaint size and one stop shop is worth the visit.

Coastal Black:

This sprawling farm has lots of cute places to take pictures of the kids (or yourself) and has fun events such as corn cannons plus a corn maze; not to mention their jumping pillow and wagon rides as well as a hay bale maze.

This one is worth the drive. They also have a pizza oven as well as a great place to pick up fruit wines and local hunny. I could go on forever about this place as there is so much to see and do. We love the area we can hang out in while the kids play games such as bowling with pumpkins and drink hot drinks to warm up on those cooler days.

Holly Hill Farm:

Ever want to meet a baby wallaby or see goats dressed up for Halloween? If so, then this is the place to visit! Beyond pumpkins, they have a lot of fun things to see and do. They welcome dressing up for Halloween and also have the option to book a time in order to avoid the chaos of an over crowded environment.

October Movie Kick Off!

Did I miss any that I should add to my list? Please let me know any good ones I missed so I can check them out!

I love Halloween movies 🎃👻🎥. Something about a cozy blanket and watching a scary movie that just screams fall.

Had to start off with Hocus Pocus. My kids don't have the nostalgia I do with this one so, they don't tend to stay for the whole movie but, I still tend to get some snuggles and they'll stick around for about as long as the snacks do🍿.

So happy we got a chance to take Steve to get Brisket while he was in town as an early Father’s Day brunch. Was going to take a picture of the food but we all dove right in! It’s only open 11-4pm on Saturdays but highly recommend putting this on the weekend agenda!

The Bank of Canada just lowered interest rates again, cutting its policy rate by 25 basis points to 2.75%. If you have a variable-rate mortgage or a line of credit, this likely means some relief in the form of lower interest costs.

What this means for you

Most lenders are expected to drop their prime rate to 4.95% in the coming days, which will bring down borrowing costs for many Canadians. TD Bank, which typically prices its mortgage prime rate slightly higher, is expected to lower its rate to 5.10%.

If you have a variable-rate mortgage with adjustable payments, you can expect to save about $14 per $100,000 of mortgage balance on a 25-year amortization. If your variable-rate mortgage has fixed payments, more of your payment will now go toward your principal. Fixed-rate mortgages won’t be affected immediately, but if rates keep trending lower, it could mean better renewal or refinancing opportunities down the road.

What’s next?

Looking ahead, the Bank of Canada will be keeping a close eye on both inflation and broader economic risks, including the potential impact of U.S. trade tariffs. The next rate decision is set for April 16.
