Let me introduce you to my Uncle George! He is 101 years old and my hero!
Today I will honour him and all of the women and men who fought to give us all the lives we have today. On the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour I will remain silent in respect to honour him and both of my grandfathers and all of my other uncles and my own father as well as all of the soldiers and workers that gave me and my family the FREEDOM we continue to have today. George is the last surviving Canadian soldier alive today from the Normandy invasion. In France he was wounded in a battle in and area of France that later became known as Bomb Alley. Survived and came home to have an amazing life!!! He was also last year awarded the highest medal of honour that a soldier can receive from the French Government (green medal on the attached photo) as thanks for his part in liberating their country.
HE IS MY HERO! Please take a minute of silence in one hour from now to remember all of the sacrifices that were made to give us our Freedoms we so enjoy today.
I will always were my poppy with great respect and pride each year at this time and hope that you will as well. If you don’t agree with the symbolism that it represents or somehow offends you then I will tell you what my Uncle George would say. He would laugh and say GOOD, THATS WHY WE DID IT.

You got that right, Christmas is almost weeks away! If you're looking for that personal touch this holiday season, no matter what you celebrate, here are some ideas for a DIY card!

- Cut out comics from the paper and glue them onto some construction paper
- Make a cupon book *we know, this one's classic*
- Collage some letters into a heartfelt message
- Write out a riddle on the front and leave the answer until the new year
- Print a photo of you and them or a special scene from your own adventures and glue onto construction paper
