Welcome Melinda!

Please join us in welcoming Melinda Ells to the Atlas York Insurance team!

Melinda is joining us as a Motor Licence Issuer, working between our Coleville and Dodsland locations.

For many in the Coleville community, Melinda will already be a familiar face. After years of running a local daycare, she knows a thing or two about patience, organization, keeping track of a lot of moving pieces - and taking great care of the people who count on her.

We’re excited for Melinda to bring that same level of care and community connection to our clients at Atlas York.

Welcome to the team, Melinda! We’re so glad to have you.

Local businesswoman among 50 nominated for provincial award

By Ian MacKay

ROSETOWN – Sarah Johnston, who runs Atlas York Insurance, is one of 50 women nominated for an award as Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan plans "a celebration designed to recognize more women, more stories and more definitions of success."

Also, the company's Bobbee-Jo Wood is scheduled to get stranded somewhere on behalf of STARS.

And Atlas York was selected as a finalist in two categories of awards presented annually by the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the Achievement of Business Excellence (ABEX) awards. They'll be presented on Sept. 26 in Saskatoon.

During a barbecue in early August, Atlas York raised about $7,500 to kick off Wood's Sept. 17 fundraising effort for STARS, the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society.

Wood is one of four "courageous community leaders ready to trade their business suits for STARS flight suits" and who will try to raise $50,000 each that day, a statement about Rescue on the Prairies said.

"Dropped into a remote location with only their smartphones, they'll tackle challenges, rally support and raise awareness to secure their rescue," the statement said.

During the Atlas York barbecue on Second Avenue East, "People stepped into the dunk tank," donated money and bought burgers and hats, the company page noted, expressing gratitude for those who took part and contributed, including those "who got soaked in the dunk tank."

Johnston, meanwhile, is nominated in the Rooting and Rising category at Saskatoon on Sept. 16 under a new Women Entrepreneurs "model (that) recognizes women whose impact extends beyond revenue figures alone," a statement said.

Ten days later, Atlas York's Saskatoon head office contends against four other businesses in both the marketing and small business growth and expansion categories of the chamber of commerce awards. Almost 120 applications arrived from 22 communities.

"From this strong pool, 42 unique organizations have been selected as finalists" in 11 categories, a chamber statement said. Entries in those divisions face two rounds of judging and an evaluation by staff with an accounting firm.

Congrats!

Congrats!

A unicorn of many talents! 🦄

We are SO proud to celebrate Sophia Sparks on not one, but TWO huge career milestones!

Sophia has officially stepped into her new role as our Brand & Marketing Coordinator and has completed all of her required exams to become a Restricted Auto Broker!

Sophia originally joined the Atlas York Insurance team part-time, and after returning from maternity leave, she has officially joined us full-time in our Rosetown office - and we couldn’t be happier to have her!

Sophia is the definition of a unicorn. She brings creativity, ambition, energy and a willingness to jump in wherever she’s needed. From marketing and communications to insurance and everything in between, she continues to prove just how much she can take on.

Watching our people grow, learn and step into new opportunities is one of the best parts of what we do. We are incredibly proud of you, Sophia, and so excited to see where this next chapter takes you!

Help us congratulate Sophia on these well-earned milestones!

Hopping on to give a shoutout to an AMAZING woman-owned business in our local community: Atlas York Insurance, who invited my online boutique Sunday Sparks to set up at their Grand Opening Saskatoon event yesterday!

💚 What impressed me the most wasn’t just that the turnout was good (it was phenomenal).
🫂 It wasn’t that I made new friends & customers (big bonus to doing markets).
🥳 It wasn’t even the incredible level of organization and ex*****on from a clearly well-functioning team of fun-loving people.

It was actually how Sarah Johnston & the leadership team treated my friend Debbie, who brought her baked goods to the market, had only about 30 mini cakes leftover (she sold tons!!) and without hesitation, when I offered the idea of buying out Debbie’s remaining inventory to share with the hardworking AYI crew, there was zero hesitation — just wholehearted support — to give our local entrepreneur a SOLD OUT day.

Debbie was close to crying when she realized she would be going home with an empty car. It’s the stuff that we, small business owners at markets, dream of.

The smile on her face was priceless as she waved and drove off at the end of the day.

So yes, I’d like to thank the folks in this picture (Bobbee-Jo Cheyne Wood, Kristy Kolach, Sarah Johnston and even Mr. Paul Ashton) for coming to my booth to shop with me…

But above all I want to thank you for being the kind of leaders in our province and community who make the types of moves that support local business owners in turning their dreams into reality.

🌹 Rosetown is fortunate to have you.
🌅 Dodsland is fortunate to have you.
🌾 Coleville is fortunate to have you.

And now…your new location at 102-3550 Taylor Street E is fortunate to have you.

I hope you will give these folks a call for your insurance needs. They truly know what it means to take care of people.

Congratulations! 🎉

Congratulations to Sarah Johnston our co-owner and CEO!
