Operation Red Nose is an important road safety campaign against impaired driving. It's main component is a safe ride home service provided by volunteers during the holiday season to any motorist who doesn't feel fit to drive. It's an original way to use one's own vehicle without getting behind the wheel...and the service is free
Since 1984, Operation Red Nose has adopted the following mission: To
encourage responsible behavious with regard to impaired driving in a non judgemental manner be enabling communities to provide a free and confidential chauffeur service to their members, the financial benifits of which are redistributed to local organizations dedicated to youth. After a night of fun if you cannot drive, a team of 3 volunteers go to your location (hotel, party, bar or house) 2 volunteers get in your car with you in the back, one drives one navigates. The third person is following in another vehicle, once you get home safe the other 2 volunteers get back in the Operation Red Nose vehicle and it starts all over again. This is done for donations, the proceeds are then given to a local charity. This year all donations are being donated to Cold Lake Victim Services, a very worthy cause that helps victims of crimes go through the court process and give them the guidance they need.
