One of our favourite events of the year is coming up!

EXPERIENCE COBOURG: On Saturday, August 8 the Cobourg Beach will be transformed as master sculptors and amateur builders participate in the 2026 Sandcastle Festival. Visitors can watch master sculptors bring larger-than-life creations, participate in the amateur sandcastle building competition, enjoy the inflatable fun park, experience beach entertainment, take part in Movies Under the Stars, and explore the opportunity to experience Cobourg from a new perspective with the Hot Air Balloon Adventure Passport. 🏖🏰

- Please keep all pets at home during the Sandcastle festival. (Service animals are always welcome in line with AODA guidelines)🐕
- Parking is limited in the Downtown and Waterfront area. Park your car for free and catch a complimentary shuttle to and from the festival between 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. from one of the following locations:

🔥When it comes to wildfires, your animals need a plan too.

If you have livestock or farm animals, planning now can make a big difference.

A few ways to prepare:
✅Have an evacuation plan & identify a safe location.
✅Keep trailers and equipment fuelled, maintained, & ready to use.
✅ Clear dry grass, brush & combustible materials from around barns or buildings.
✅ Have emergency supplies, including feed, water & medications.
✅ Ensure your animals have permanent identification & keep an updated inventory.
✅ Watch for signs of smoke-related stress & contact your veterinarian if you're concerned.

If you can't safely evacuate your livestock, don't put yourself at risk. Move animals to a large, low-fuel pasture with access to water, if possible, leave gates unlocked & follow evacuation orders.

Pursuing an apprenticeship and planning a career in Ontario agriculture? The Ontario Federation of Agriculture is offering a $2,000 scholarship to support one individual completing an apprenticeship program.

This is one of several scholarship opportunities available through the OFA Scholarship Program, which supports the next generation of agricultural leaders across undergraduate, postgraduate, leadership and skilled trades pathways.
