ONE PERSON. ONE JOB. SAVE LIVES.

When kids are in or around the water, choose one adult to be the designated "Water Watcher." That person's only job is to watch the swimmers. No phones, no conversations, no cooking on the BBQ, no distractions.

Because the truth is...

Drowning is fast.
Drowning is silent.
Drowning is almost always preventable.

Children under 5 are among the highest-risk age groups for drowning, and distracted or absent supervision is one of the leading contributing factors. In fact, Transport Canada reports that 93% of drownings involving children under 5 are linked to distracted or absent supervision.

Health Canada also reminds parents that drowning is one of the leading causes of death for children aged 1–4, and that young children should always be kept within arm's reach around water.

Make the "Water Watcher" Rule:

✅ One responsible adult assigned at all times
✅ No phones or distractions
✅ Rotate every 15–20 minutes if needed
✅ Never assume someone else is watching

Remember:
If everyone is watching the kids... no one is truly watching the kids.

NCAC Swim is locally owned and operated, proudly serving Carleton Place, Kanata, Stittsville, Orléans, Barrhaven, Nepean, Lanark County, the Ottawa Valley, and surrounding communities.

We offer professional Backyard Swimming Lessons in the comfort of your own pool, including private, semi-private, and small group instruction, as well as Backyard Lifeguarding Services for pool parties, family gatherings, and special events.

All lessons are taught by certified and insured Swim Instructors and Coaches, carefully selected by our Head Coaches from our year-round pool programming. Every instructor maintains current certifications, carries insurance, and completes an annual Vulnerable Sector Check to help ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for every swimmer.

Whether you're looking to help your child become water confident, improve their swimming skills, or hire a certified lifeguard for your next backyard event, we'd be happy to help!
