This effects variable rate mortgages and revolving credit based on prime rate only :) Next BOC rate announcement is June 10 2026! As always fixed rates remain being influenced with increases or decreases following bond markets… We have seen a few increases in the past month + Currently variable rate mortgage rates are lower than fixed… Reach out to me for anything mortgages!!

The Bank of Canada held its policy rate today — meaning no immediate change to borrowing costs on prime.
👉 What this means:
Variable-rate mortgages, lines of credit, and credit cards (anything tied to prime) stay the same for now.
👉 Fixed rates are different:
They’re based on the bond market — not the Bank of Canada directly. Even though the Bank held steady, fixed rates have been creeping up recently due to rising bond yields, driven by global uncertainty (like war) and higher oil prices.
👉 Bottom line:
• Variable = unchanged (for now)
• Fixed = can still move independently
The next Bank of Canada rate announcement is April 29, 2026.

Prime will stay at 4.45% - payments on variable mortgages and lines of credit etc. No change to fixed rates as of yet (fixed rates don’t change with the bank of Canada however they can adjust afterword - typically follow bond market) Next BOC rate announcement is Wednesday March 18 2026! 📣 Another .25% reduction to the Bank of Canada Rate today. This lowers rates on revolving credit and mortgages ie variable rate mortgages home equity lines of credit and credit cards. Prime rate is now 4.45%. We will see if fixed mortgage rates follow however those follow the bond markets :)
