Toronto needs more housing.
But what does it actually look like when someone tries to create it?
This is a great example from Toronto developer Darren Voros | Voros Group of how regulations, development charges and financing requirements can quickly compound, adding hundreds of thousands of dollars to a project without necessarily providing any additional benefit, protection or safety to the tenant.
At that point, we have to ask: what are these added costs actually accomplishing?
Those extra costs and time delays ultimately impact what gets built in the city and what housing needs to cost for the numbers to make sense.
