Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Wais Yardam

Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Wais Yardam As a financial advisor at Edward Jones, I help individuals secure their financial future and optimize wealth. I never offer a product.

I work closely with clients to create personalized strategies that meet their unique needs and goals. I’m passionate about working with individuals nearing/transitioning into retirement and educating families on financial literacy, empowering them to make informed decisions. Additionally, I assist in selecting the right life insurance coverage to protect loved ones and preserve financial legacies.

For business owners, I provide tailored solutions that optimize both personal and business finances. Understanding the challenges small business owners face, I offer comprehensive strategies, including cash flow management, tax-efficient investments, and retirement planning. I also help evaluate and secure business insurance to protect against risks and ensure continuity. My goal is to simplify business finances and guide you to financial success as a trusted partner. My credentials include the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH), Life License Qualification Program (LLQP), and Wealth Management Essentials (WME). I’m also a Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) student, continually enhancing my skills to better serve clients. Outside of work, I’m passionate about Formula 1 racing, cars, fishing, and golf. These hobbies help me unwind and connect with others who share similar interests. Whether following the latest F1 race, enjoying time on the water, or perfecting my golf swing, these activities keep me energized and balanced. They also provide insights into discipline, strategy, and patience—qualities I apply in my work. My parents are partially responsible for my career choice – I believe that if they had received sound financial advice and professional guidance, their lives would have been much different. Perhaps that's why I am so passionate about helping others prepare for the future. My code of ethics is threefold: I strive to understand each client's unique needs. Instead, I offer solutions tailored to specific needs. I always do what's right for my clients – always. My typical client is between the ages of 35 and 55. These are individuals focused on building their families and their wealth. They are hard-working, professional people who need help in determining how to achieve their long-term goals. When you meet with me for the first time, I want to know about you. I want to understand what you want to accomplish, who are investing for (yourself, your children, your parents, a charity, etc.), where you are now in terms of your finances, and where you want to be in the future. Only then can I create a customized, tailored strategy to help you accomplish those goals. I also value education and work to ensure my clients have a good grasp of what they are investing in and why I believe it is appropriate for their needs and goals. In addition, I partner with my clients over the years to help ensure they remain well-positioned to reach their long-term goals regardless of short-term changes in the market. I invite you to learn more about Edward Jones award-winning client service and how I can help you achieve your financial goals. Please call or drop by my office.

One of the most common questions about Old Age Security (OAS) is when to start taking it. The standard age is 65, but you can delay until age 70. Each choice affects how much you receive.

Starting at 65 means you begin receiving income earlier. But if you delay, your monthly payments increase by 0.6% for each month you wait, up to a maximum 36% increase at age 70.

So which option is right for you? It depends on several factors unique to your situation. Your current tax rate matters. If you're still working or have other significant income, delaying might make sense. Your total income matters too, because OAS is subject to a clawback if your income exceeds certain thresholds.

If you're approaching 65 and wondering when to start your OAS, reach out. I can help you evaluate your options based on your personal circumstances.

You asked – we answered! Here are the top 10 questions about Old Age Security (OAS)

A balanced family budget isn't about deprivation or cutting everything you enjoy. It's about creating a realistic plan that supports your goals and fits your life.

Start with clear, achievable goals. Build in flexibility for unexpected expenses, because life rarely goes exactly as planned. Review your budget regularly and adjust as your circumstances change. The families who succeed with budgeting are the ones who stay consistent, not perfect.

And remember, you don't have to figure this out alone. Working with an advisor means having someone who can help you review your current situation, refine your goals, and create a strategy that can help keep you on track.

If you're ready to create a budget that works for your family's goals, reach out. I'm here to help.

Many couples don’t talk about money until they have to. A cohabitation agreement can help you answer the uncomfortable questions early:

Who pays for what? Who owns what? What happens if things change?

It’s like a pre-nup, but for common-law couples. It can help you define expectations, avoid misunderstandings, and make decisions more easily.

If you’re navigating these conversations or want guidance on how financial planning fits into your relationship, reach out. I’m happy to talk through your options and help you feel more confident moving forward.

Edward Jones' financial advisors are not lawyers and cannot provide legal advice. A cohabitation agreement is a legally binding document that should be created with the assistance of a qualified lawyer or legal professional. We can help you understand how your financial decisions today connect to your long-term goals and work alongside your legal advisor to support your overall financial strategy.
