This year PROPERTY TAXES bill just arrived in the mail and, no surprise there , they have INCREASED GREATLY 🤦🏻♀️🥲 💸
I checked all my monthly mandatory bills trying to see where I can “ find the difference from”, but sadly I don’t see an option for that at this time .
So I came up with an “ extreme” idea, now that June 1st is around the corner . Yay , new month , new beginnings .
I am going to keep track , SEPARATELY, of everything variable bill category I have, to see if there is one where I am overspending unknowingly.
I split up these in the following categories : food, gas, household expenses ( cleaning supplies, repairs , improvements, garden etc ), entertainment ( restaurants, movies, etc ), office expenses, memberships ( AMA, gym, online subscriptions etc), clothing ( this will be zero , I know for sure ) , beauty ( nails, hair, any cosmetic procedures , cosmetic products ) , vacations ( I already have a max for this category , so this one is easy ).
For ever category I made a jar 🫙, and inside is a blank sheet of paper 📝. I will start writing on each of those papers the rounded up to the next dollar amounts for every category , every time I come from a shopping trip .
I will give myself 3 months to figure which category is “ out of whack “, and adjust accordingly .
How will the adjustments happen?!
- by finding cheaper stores / shopping platforms to buy the products I need
- by cutting the unnecessary expenses ( alcohol , snack , too many sweets )
-by using different stores discounts days, products on sale or credit cards or stores rewards .
- by possibly switching the type of cosmetics / brands or cleaning supplies.
- by doing things myself ( repairs, cleaning my house alone instead of a cleaning crew , working out at home instead of a gym membership).
- by choosing more affordable restaurants / happy hour times to go out
- by cancelling some subscription like Amazon and buying only when they have the “ free month trials “.
My home and car insurance , utilities, cell, TV and internet are being negotiated every year . So these are not on my list at this time.
Life , critical illness insurance and investments contributions are set in stone , so I won’t touch these . These get paid / contributed to first , along with my utilities , every month. NON- NEGOTIABLE , as my future depends on them .
