Checkin with your bank to see what’s the rate for a 6 month or 1 year fixed and fix your mortgage for a little while until rates start dropping if the short term fixed rate is somewhere near your variable rate.

You can go back to variable or fixed rate for another term upon renewal and avoid penalty
