🚨CLOSED JULY 23rd🚨
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, ICBC will undergo a planned systems outage as they increase all driver's licence numbers from seven to eight digits.

ICBC anticipates running out of seven-digit driver's licence numbers by the fall of 2023, and they are carrying out this change to ensure continuous service moving forward.

To ensure a smooth transition, all ICBC systems will be unavailable on July 23, and they will be available again at the start of business day on Monday, July 24, 2023.

During this time, we will not be able to access services such as:
👉Renewing and making changes to an existing insurance policy
👉Registering a new vehicle
👉Booking a road test
👉Reporting and checking the status of a claim
👉Obtaining a driver's abstract
👉Obtaining a vehicle history report

ICBC does recognize that there is never an ideal time for an outage, however they assure you that this outage is necessary to ensure a smooth customer experience in future.

If your insurance policy is expiring on July 23 and you wish to renew, we recommend you renew online, in-person or over the phone on or before July 22.

As a reminder, if you park or drive a car that does not have valid insurance, you risk not being protected in the event of a loss.

✨Odometer Reading Discount✨

You can submit an odometer reading to determine if you may be eligible for a distance-based discount at any time during your 12-month policy. 👏🏼

If you chooses to provide your own odometer reading, you can go to icbc.com now and upload a photo of your odometer reading as proof (or another valid type of proof such as a receipt or work order from a garage, a mechanic, an auto shop, or an auto dealership) using the Customers' Odometer Submission Web Form. You will then receive an email to confirm the discount eligibility. 💵

🚙How to submit an odometer reading
〰First, you’ll be asked to upload proof of the odometer reading. That proof must be dated no earlier than seven days before the date you renewed or purchased your policy and no later than seven days after that same date. ​​​​
〰For example, if you renewed your policy on September 12, the proof must be dated between September 5 and September 19.​
〰Accepted proof can be one of the following (.jpg, .pdf or .png file formats):
A clear and legible photo of the vehicle odometer.
〰A receipt or work order with an odometer reading from a garage, mechanic, auto shop or dealership
〰An odometer reading from a service or app that reports vehicle information and diagnostics
〰Then you’ll also enter the odometer reading, without decimals, in a text box. ​

If you’re eligible for a distance-based discount, ICBC will contact you by email to confirm the discount in approximately one to two business days.

How you receive your refund for the difference depends on how you paid for your policy:
If you paid by credit card and you’ve already signed up direct deposit: you’ll receive a refund for the difference in your account, typically three to four days after we confirm your discount.

If you paid by credit card and haven’t signed up for direct deposit: you’ll receive a cheque, typically mailed to you one to two weeks after we confirm your discount
If you’re enrolled in ICBC’s payment plan: your refund will be applied to your remaining payments.

ICBC’s Autoplan insurance products and services are available through more than 900 independent brokers (like us at Maxxam). ICBC’s driver licensing services are available through approximately 120 different offices, including expressways, Service BC centers and, appointed agency offices throughout B.C. However, in regards to your insurance needs - we’re bias… Maxxam is the best.

🗣HOW DO YOU REGISTER AND INSURE YOUR VEHICLE? 🚗🚙

If you move here with a vehicle (or if you're a returning B.C. resident), you need to register, license and insure the vehicle within 30 days of arriving. If you're driving a commercial motor vehicle, it must be registered, licensed and insured in B.C. immediately.

Passenger vehicles and most other vehicles will need to pass a mechanical safety inspection at a B.C. designated inspection facility before they can be registered, licensed and insured. These facilities are listed at th.gov.bc.ca/cvse.

When your vehicle has passed the inspection, bring the vehicle, the inspection report and the Vehicle Registration to us to register, license and insure it. You'll need to hand in your out-of-province plates (or send them back to your province). Make sure you bring valid primary ID and one piece of secondary ID. Go to icbc.com/accepted-ID to confirm acceptable ID.

If you're bringing a vehicle to B.C. from Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba… YOU MAY QUALIFY FOR AN EXEMPTION FROM A PROVINCIAL INSPECTION.

🗣THE VEHICLE OWNER MUST BE:

a new or returning to B.C. resident, and

the same owner(s) in the previous jurisdiction making the application for registration in B.C.

🗣THE VEHICLE MUST HAVE:

been registered in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba immediately prior to being imported to B.C. and

privately owned or leased by an individual(s) and not a company.

🗣ANY OF THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE MUST BE 3,500 KG OR LESS:

passenger vehicle

commercial vehicle or

motorhome.
