đ¨ One ICBC rule people keep getting wrong and it can cost you thousands.
ICBC doesnât just look at who owns the car they care who actually drives it.
Household members or employees?
If they drive your vehicle even once, they must be listed on your policy.
No exceptions. UDP does not protect you here.
Friends, guests, extended family â non-household, non-employees?
You can lend them your car as long as you have Unlisted Driver Protection (UDP) on your policy.
UDP is designed for occasional drivers â typically 12 or fewer trips per year.
No UDP or the person should have been listed? â You may face an âUnlisted Driver Accident Premium.â Iâve seen penalties over $8,000.
Play it safe: List the drivers who must be listed â and make sure UDP is set up for the ones who donât live with you.
