🏅42.2 KM. Finished. Toronto Marathon 2026.
From 0.5 km to the full distance · 6 years in the making

In 2020, I picked up David Goggins' "Can't Hurt Me" and laced up my shoes for the first time.

My first run? 0.5 km. I was gasping. My lungs were on fire. I turned back home thinking — is this even for me?

Last month, I crossed the finish line of the Toronto Marathon. All 42.2 kilometres of it!

And I did it while raising money for The Hospital for Sick Children — because if those kids show up every single day with the kind of courage they do, the least I could do was run. To everyone who donated and cheered this on: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You were with me on every km.

But here's what I want to share — the marathon wasn't completed on race day. It was done on every single morning I showed up when I didn't want to. On the long runs in the cold. On the training days during vacations on unfamiliar roads in a new city, finding my km's anyway. Because consistency doesn't take days off. It just adapts.

Perseverance isn't glamorous. It's quiet, unglamorous repetition. It's showing up for yourself when no one is watching — not for likes, not for applause, but because you made a promise to yourself.

Goggins talks about building a "callus on your mind." I understand that now in a way I couldn't in 2020. Every hard run, every failed training day, every moment I wanted to quit — that was the work. That was the callus forming.

We are capable of so much more than we can see from where we're standing. The version of me gasping at 0.5 km could not have imagined crossing that finish line. But that existed in me the whole time — waiting for reps.

Here's what this journey taught me — and what I bring to my work as a Financial Advisor every day:

→ Small, consistent actions compound into extraordinary outcomes. Whether that's daily km's or monthly contributions — the magic is in never stopping.

→ The plan matters less than the discipline to stick to it. Markets get hard. Legs get tired. You show up anyway.

→ You can't see the finish line from the start. That's not a reason to stop — it's the whole point of the journey.

→ Long-term thinking is a muscle. You have to train it.

The same mindset that gets someone from 0.5 km to a marathon finish line is the same mindset that builds real, lasting wealth. It's not about intensity. It's about integrity — with your goals, your plan, and yourself.

If you're sitting on a financial goal, a health goal, or a life goal right now — start with your 0.5 km. It's enough. Just don't stop.

Grateful. Humbled. And already planning the next run. 🏃‍♂️

Proud, Grateful, Inspired.

I had the privilege of leading a DEI-focused leadership summit with our key financial advisor leaders across Eastern Canada. In a time when conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion can feel sensitive or even polarizing, our team leaned in with empathy, authenticity, and purpose.

We didn’t just talk about DEI—we built plans, shared strategies, and reflected deeply on how we lead. We challenged ourselves to be more human-centric, more aware, and more connected to the people and communities we serve.

Each region walked away with clear, actionable goals to support the growth and success of our colleagues —because when our teams reflect the world around us, everyone wins.

Thank you to the incredible leaders who showed up ready to collaborate, grow, and make a difference. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’re building together.

Many of us struggle to remember all the finer details about registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs). The benefits you should remember are contributions are tax deductible and investment growth is tax deferred. There are also several types of RRSPs and in addition to saving for retirement, they can be used to help purchase a home or fund education. Please contact me if you’d like to review your RRSP’s performance or are considering opening an RRSP.
