Most families don’t struggle because they didn’t care.
They struggle because everything was left scattered.

We’re looking forward to hosting an upcoming client workshop focused on bringing everything together in one place.

Grateful to be working alongside Dr. Laura Shoots, Founder & CEO of Take Care, and to be hosting this session at the Art Gallery of Burlington, a space designed for thoughtful, meaningful conversations.

This one is for our clients, but the reminder extends beyond the room, the more organized things are today, the easier it is for the people who matter most later.

Lately I’ve been paying more attention to the little things I actually enjoy day to day… not just the routines I think I should be following.

For me, it’s keeping things pretty simple. Eating whole foods, focusing on anti-inflammatory choices, staying consistent with strength training… and still leaving room for the things I love. A good meal out, a cozy night in, something sweet without overthinking it.

I’ve learned I’m not very good at extremes. The whole “start fresh Monday” mindset never really sticks. What does stick is balance… doing the things that make me feel good most of the time, and not stressing about the rest.

It’s not perfect, but it feels a lot more like real life.

Would love to hear what you’ve been into lately… recipes, books, shows, anything worth sharing.

Spring in Burlington is basically everyone collectively deciding winter was a bad idea.

The waterfront wakes up, patios reappear, and suddenly a light jacket at 10°C feels like a personal achievement.

What’s your “okay, winter’s over” moment where you are?

05/14/2026

Most people don’t plan their charitable giving, they remember it, usually in December when everything else is already happening. You give, it feels good, and it should.

But how you give can change the impact more than most people realize, both for you and the cause you care about.

If this is something that matters to you, it’s worth thinking about now, not just at year-end.

We spend a lot of time here sharing insights on markets, taxes, planning, and the financial decisions that shape the future.

But every now and then, it feels important to pause and share a bit of the human side of things too.

So here’s a quick May life check-in from our team.

Cat made the most of winter with some time on the ski hill. I had the chance to head out west to British Columbia, connecting with clients, attending a conference, and spending meaningful time with family, both on and off the slopes.

Tammy has been busy with her daughter, getting everything ready as she prepares to start university this fall.

Katharine has just passed the six-month mark with us and has been a true sponge, completing her associate training and continuing to grow into her role with confidence.

And last but not least, we were excited to welcome Nadine to the team. She’s already making a meaningful impact, helping us bring more structure to our educational and communication initiatives so we can stay focused on what matters most, our clients.

Today marks the final day to file your 2025 tax return.

For some, it comes with a deep exhale. The documents are in, the numbers are finalized, and another tax season is behind you.

For others, today is a reminder that next year could feel a little more organized and a little less rushed.

Once the return is filed, this is actually one of the best moments to take a step back and look ahead. While everything is still fresh, consider reviewing a few things:

• Did your income, investments, or business change this year?
• Were there deductions or credits you wish you had planned for earlier?
• Are your RRSP, TFSA, and tax strategies aligned with what your accountant prepared?
• Do you have a clearer plan for charitable giving, capital gains, or withdrawals next year?

If you are looking to stay sharp on tax planning throughout the year, The Tax Chick Podcast is a great resource that shares practical insights Canadians can apply long before next April arrives.

Tax season is not only about filing. It is also a valuable checkpoint. A short conversation now can often make next April feel far more straightforward.

Business Podcast · Tax is complex, but it does not always have to be so complicated and shrouded in mystery. Host Amanda Doucette is a self-proclaimed foodie, spin class and Pilates enthusiast, and a tax lawyer. She f…

We are excited to welcome Nadine Lourenco to The Aubertin Group at RBC Dominion Securities as our Business Development Lead.

Nadine brings a strong focus on relationships, growth, and creating meaningful connections within our community. Her role will focus on expanding our reach, strengthening partnerships, and helping more families discover the work our team is passionate about.

To help you get to know Nadine a little better, we asked her three questions.

1) What excites you most about joining The Aubertin Group?
"Having worked alongside the team for nearly four years, I’ve seen firsthand the strength of the leadership and the way each team member is empowered. What stood out most is that the commitment to exceptional client service is not just something that’s said, it’s something that’s lived every day. I’m excited to officially be part of this team, a team where people-first values truly guide the work."

2) What does great client experience look like to you?
"A great client experience is personable, thoughtful, and detailed. There are many moving parts in wealth management, and each one matters. At the core, it’s about ensuring clients feel confident that not only their assets are being managed, but their legacy as well. That confidence comes from trust, care, and consistency over time."

3) What is something people may not know about you?
"My husband and I are new parents, which has been an experience that has reshaped how we think about planning for the future. I also love hosting and bringing people together. There’s something meaningful about creating space for connection, and in many ways, that mirrors what I value most about this work, helping create security and peace of mind for the people who matter most."

Nadine, we are so glad you are here. Welcome to The Aubertin Group.

There are certain organizations that stay with you, not just because of what they do, but because of the impact you see firsthand.

For me, The Darling Home for Kids is one of them.

I’ve had the privilege of being involved as a board member, and right now, they’re in the midst of something really meaningful. Their Expansion Phase III will allow them to support even more medically complex children and their families with the care they need.

It’s hard to fully put into words what that means until you see it up close. The level of care, the support for families, the space it creates for moments that matter… it stays with you.

One of the ways you can be part of that impact is through Wheels 2026 happening Sunday, June 28. It’s a day that brings people together in support of something much bigger than any one of us.

If you’re looking for a way to get involved, support, or simply learn more, this is one that’s worth your time.

Our signature fundraising events are the highlights of our year and help us to provide high-quality, specialized care to our children and families. When you participate in, sponsor, or attend an event in support of The Darling Home for Kids, you make a significant impact on the lives of those we ser...

Community means taking the time to get to know the people behind the work.

Today, I’d love to introduce Katharine, Associate with The Aubertin Group.

To help you get to know her a little better, we asked her a few questions.

What led you to wealth management?
After several years in the life insurance industry, I developed a strong appreciation for understanding a client’s full picture, especially when it comes to risk and protection. Over time, I found myself drawn to the bigger picture, helping clients grow and preserve their assets, and plan for the future. Wealth management allows me to build long-term relationships, provide thoughtful support, and be part of helping clients reach meaningful goals.

What might surprise clients about the work behind a strong financial plan?
A lot of the work happens behind the scenes. Tax rules, regulations, and planning strategies are always evolving, and every client’s situation is different. Staying informed and adaptable is key so we can plan ahead, adjust when needed, and keep each client’s goals at the center of every decision.

What’s something people may not know about you?
I recently moved into a new apartment and have really enjoyed the process of turning it into a home. From picking out furniture to adding personal touches, it’s been rewarding to build something over time. Now that I’m more settled, I love hosting friends and family and creating space for quality time together.

Katharine, we’re so glad to have you on the team.
