Job Description / Duties

What will you be doing?

The Auto & Property Insurance Specialist is primarily responsible for processing auto insurance policies / Autopac, and a variety of personal lines policies and insurance contracts related to residential homes and personal belongings.

Key Responsibilities:

This position processes a variety of personal lines policies and insurance contracts related to residential homes and personal belongings.

This position will process all Autopac transactions.

Processes personal lines policies and contracts often including items such as; evaluators, residential and recreational property, boats and other personal pleasure craft.

Identifies client needs and provides information on basic insurance products such as risk coverage, benefits and other policy features best suited to meet the client's needs; works with clients to manage and reduce their risk.

Recommends and implements a client’s insurance coverage, premiums and advises of payment plans available.

Able to utilize Insurance company portal as well as TBW (The Brokers Workstation) to quote, endorse, and complete a policy, as well as write new personal lines policies.

Maintains thorough knowledge of insurance company wordings / coverages, and adhere to organizational policies and procedures on risk management, confidentiality, security and fraud prevention.

Qualifications / Required Skills
What do you need?

Completed Level 2 Brokers Insurance license
Completed all MPI courses

Thorough understanding of MPI/Autopac transactions as well as personal lines property coverages

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written

Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy

Ability to perform well under pressure

Ability to prioritize using sound judgment to make timely and effective decisions

Ability to follow standardized policies and procedures

Knowledge of risk management within the insurance industry

Proficient computer skills

What we provide:

Full time / permanent salaried position.
Competitive salary commensurate with experience (45-60k per year)

Office hours: Monday – Friday = 8:30am – 5:30pm

Don't forget, if you want to sign your teenager up for Driver's Z, you should visit an Autopac outlet well ahead of time, and set them up on MPI's system.

Then, on the day the courses open you can phone MPI's number at 1-800-665-2410 and request a spot, all from the comfort of your home, without standing in line!

Did you know that any Autopac broker can help enroll your child in the Driver Z program.

The easiest way to do this is to go into any Autopac outlet and set them up on MPI's system ahead of time, and then on the day you need to register them, you can do one of the following:

-go online and register them at the school / date of their choice (depending on availability)
-phone Autopac/MPI via their 1-800 number directly with their information and register them at the school / date of their choice
-go to any Autopac outlet and physically sign them up at the school / date of their choice

**if they have not been set up on MPI's system prior to the date they need to register, it can be time consuming

Driver Z Course Finder
Registration is now open for the Driver Z Winter/Spring 2024 term. Courses run between January and June 2024.

Course registration information:

Winter/Spring courses will be offered in two formats: virtual or in-person. Virtual courses will be held on the WebEx platform. In-person courses will be held at the host school location. For all courses, vision screening and knowledge tests will be conducted in-person at the school location.

It is important to remember when choosing a course that the pick-up and drop off locations for in-car lessons will be at or near the host school you register for.

Registration is now open for the Driver Z Summer/Fall 2023 term. Summer courses start in July and finish in August and Fall courses run between September and December 2023. MPI is on strike, which is causing service interruptions.

Phillips Insurance is open for business, however, if you have a transaction requiring phoning into MPI the wait times are extremely long.

Picket lines went up around Manitoba Public Insurance outlets and service centres on Monday morning for what board chair Ward Keith said was the first general strike in the Crown corporation's 52-year history.

Placards were handed out as picket lines were launched around Manitoba Public Insurance outlets and service centres on Monday morning.
