To say that March 2020 was a difficult month would be an understatement. It’s no surprise this challenging period brought on rampant financial difficulties and unemployment for many Canadians.

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions was aware that this step was necessary in order to enable Canadians to battle the crisis.

Since then, Canadian mortgages observed swift paybacks, and by February 2021, 777,800 deferred mortgages had expired.

The Covid-19 pandemic impacted the real-estate market immensely in Canada and for multiple reasons:

➡️ The influx of borrowed funds is the result of Canadians yearning for more living space due to the multiple lockdowns people across the country have experienced.

➡️ Canadians were driven to upgrade on account of low interest
rates which drove sales and prices to record highs.

➡️ People longed to leave urban centers with higher Covid-19
cases.
